1. Keep an Open
mind.
Keeping an open
mind means to
wait until you
know all the facts
before having an
opinion or
making
judgment..
2. Stay focused on the
topic.
Focusing on the topic
when listening will
help you to identify
key points and ideas.
3. Identify purpose and main
idea.
Knowing how to listen for the
main point is the way to
actually understand what the
other person is trying to say.
The main idea is the most
important concept of the
passage as a whole.
Once you understand the
main point, all the details will
fall into place but without the
main point, nothing really
makes sense.
