Philanthropy in Our Community
The Starr Group has always been committed to helping others and
that means providing donated time and/or thought leadership to
build programs to help fund non-profits. Some of these include:
n SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF WISCONSIN In supporting Special Olympics by
participating in the Polar Plunge, The Starr Group has raised over $65,000 in the last 9
years. Our staff continues to plunge in this employee-chosen charity.
n AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION The Starr Group is a corporate sponsor for the Ameri-
can Heart Association, participating as a team in their annual Heart Walk for the past 5
years. We are also a primary sponsor for their annual Fittest Starr Symposium.
n CHARITY KITTY Any time one of our employees receives a compliment from a cus-
tomer, The Starr Group places $5.00 to the kitty. At the end of the year, The Starr Group
matches this total and makes the donation to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wisconsin.
n CASUAL DAY FOR A CAUSE Every Friday is“Casual Day for a Cause”when
employees can wear jeans by contributing $2.00 to the fund. Each quarter this fund is
donated to a different employee-chosen charity.
n THE GIVING TREE Each holiday season during the months of November and
December The Starr Group employees chose a family-in-need to sponsor. The entire staff
works together to contribute needed items including food, clothing, cash for utilities or
rent, appliances, furniture, gift cards and holiday gifts.
n MILWAUKEE NARI FOUNDATION Five years ago, The Starr Group designed and built an
insurance program which gives Milwaukee NARI Foundation—an organization that spon-
sors trade apprenticeships—the opportunity to share in The Starr Group’s results within
the Milwaukee NARI organization.
n CHARITY PTO The Starr Group employees are allowed 8 hours of Personal Time Off (PTO)
per year to be used to give of their time to the charity of their choice, including making
donations to the Blood Center of Wisconsin.
n VOLUNTEER Individually, The Starr Group employees give of their time by
volunteering on various boards including but not limited to: Wellness Council of WI,
WellCity, South Suburban Chamber of Commerce, American Heart Association,
American Diabetes Association, National Association of Remodeling Industry and
Wheaton Franciscan Health Care.
