UNIT 27 – Reflexive Pronouns
Singular: myself - yourself - himself - herself - itself
Plural: ourselves - yourselves - themselves
We use a reflexive pronoun:
As a direct object when the object is the same as the subject of the verb:
I am teaching myself to play the piano.
e.g.: Be careful with that knife. You might cut yourself
The most common transitive verbs which can be used as direct object with reflexive pronoun are the following:
amuse blame cut dry enjoy help
hurt introduce kill prepare satisfy teach
Check the use of the reflexive pronouns when the subject and the object refer to the same person or thing.

- They injured themselves during the football match last Sunday.
When “ability” is implied, we can also add ‘by’ to the reflexive pronouns: myself / yourself / himself / herself; ourselves / yourselves /
