The Nigeria Alternative Energy Expo 2014 is Nigeria’s leading alternative energy event. NAEE 2014 takes place at the Shehu Musa Yar ‘ Adua Centre Abuja, from October 22 – 24 2014. The event will feature an impressive line-up of local and international speakers, delegates and exhibitors, who will gather to debate a new energy future for Africa’s most populous nation.
3. FOREWORD
UNFOLDING FUTURE STILL BRIGHTER THAN EVER
There is no great future without power and other
infrastructure challenges in any developing
country like what Nigeria is facing currently. But
the good news is that invariably all such conditions
bold well for the venturesome and creative investors
locally and internationally.
Despite the emerging debacle of the Boko Haram
terrorism in the extreme North Eastern Nigeria,
economic growth scenario is still on the upward
bound as the United Nations reported at the
just ended General Assembly in New York. The
UN agencies reported its satisfaction with the
sustainable growth in Africa’s largest economy. What
is more, the report said situation has been measured
under the global best practices standard in terms of
the Millennium Development Goals. All these focal
points allude to gradual but assured growth scenario
on the basis of sustainable power put in this huge
African market economy.
It is therefore with renewed determination that the
Local Organising Committee, (LOC) in consultation
with global monitoring team work group among
the NAEE stakeholders are even more enthusiastic
in welcoming and encouraging all our sponsors,
exhibitors, participants and the newly enlarged
speakers forum to the fourth edition of the Nigeria
Alternative Energy Expo in Abuja. The event as usual
assesses and monitors energy generation, output and
technological innovation across the global marketing
environment. The side attractions include the Nigeria
Energy Award Ceremony in, an upgrade of last year’s
Dr. Emmanuel ONYEJEOSE
Chairman, Local Organizing Committee
event at which South African, UNDP and the Lagos
State teams grabbed tantalizing awards for excellence
in the energy growth and utilization efficiency.
Our enabling team player in the Consortium, the
African Sustainable Energy Association, (AFSEA)
and Mathesis Consulting UK have been encouraged
by the near smooth take-over by the Independent
Power Providers, IPPs in Nigeria from the defunct
PHCN as we watch the recuperating power sector
currently operating up to 25 percent capacity. The
major constraints still militating on ultimate power
utility hang on sustainable energy generation
and distribution across the various Distribution
Companies, (Discos). We have taken the task of
motivating, harmonizing and global power brokers
to work with the Nigeria government in providing
veritable solutions to current energy utilization
shortfall because we understand it is the catalysis
of sustainable economic growth potentials of
that Country. That is why are delighted that the
Federal Government signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the U.S Government to
fast track the development of Nigeria’s power sector
under the “Power Africa Initiative’’, recently launched
by President Barack Obama. NAEE in its constant
“The UN agencies reported
its satisfaction with the
sustainable growth in Africa’s
largest economy. What is
more, the report said situation
has been measured under the
global best practices standard
in terms of the Millennium
Development Goals.”
2014 3 Event Programme
4. dialogues and facilitating team work undertakes to
ensure hitch free investing promotional activities
during and after the Conference events. The NAEE
2014 will hopefully attract large audience at the
exclusive Shehu Y ar’Adua Conference Centre in the
Central Business District of Abuja.
Similarly, the LOC has gone the extra steps forward
in diversifying the Speakers’ Forum following
willingness and enthusiasm of the Federal Nigerian
Government’s in signing series of Memoranda
of Understanding, (MOUs) aimed finding and
implementing power policy break-through among
global players able and willing to be supported
by capable local content providers. These players
have the unique opportunities at these events
to showcase their credibility, appropriate and
innovative technologies at this forum as they have
the opportunity to convince technocrats that they
have the desired solutions.
Under the agreement would allow the U.S to work
closely with the Nigerian Government to develop the
various sources of energy, including solar, gas and
biomas in view of the UN’s recognition of the fact that
Nigeria remains one of the countries in Africa with
significant part of energy poverty in the Continent.
“Newer and modernizing
friendly investment strategies
and policies are emerging
aimed at institutionalizing
rapid power generation
which will catalyze economic
growth potential beyond
expectations beyond 2025.”
The alternative energy giants themselves are now
well aware that they do not need prodded to take
timely innovative investment in Nigeria’s energy
future for they know where the maximum returns on
investment (ROI). In times like these, every creative
global energy players put their hands in their
mouth. The days of sitting on the fence waiting for
the proverbial cloud to clear are over. The early bird
normally catches the worm at the butter cup. The
NAEE’s roles are essentially targeted to mobilizing
global support teams to identify themselves as
reputable and reliable solution providers at all times,
not necessarily to count on the immediate profit
maximization which could be made in their home
marketing environment.
This is because the days of economic reckoning are
fast approaching when those sitting comfortably back
home will down and out in global competiveness. No
one needs to be reminded that growth potentials have
come to roost in Africa as it has been saturated in the
Arab world earlier in this current decade. The Chinese
economic giants as new comers in the economic
scene like the grass hopper know exactly where the
global expansion barometer is pointing at. This is why
the NAEE has adopted the slogan “come, assess the
economic climate and take the strategic advantage
and reap the profit. We know where the purchasing
power of the ever growing middle class and enduring
democratic governance are taking firm root.
Newer and modernizing friendly investment
strategies and policies are emerging aimed at
institutionalizing rapid power generation which
will catalyze economic growth potential beyond
expectations beyond 2025.
The NAEE Consortium gives rousing salute to the
Honorable Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu
Nebo and his team for the continuing support that
has galvanize our successes in all the editions of these
events. We also acknowledge with lots of thanks Engr.
(Mrs.) Bahijjahtu Abubakar, National Coordinator,
and Renewable Energy Program in the Ministry of
Environment whose advice and presentations have
been very valuable.
On behalf of my global colleagues I welcome you
all and ask you to go round the exhibition stands as
you assess and evaluate the latest innovative power
solutions. You are welcome to NAEE 2014.
