This document summarizes an induction project involving research, production, and evaluation tasks. The production portion involved creating posters about Andy Warhol's art in the style of pop art. Strengths of the final pieces included an effective color scheme and use of dot overlays. Areas for improvement were better blending of background images and execution of incorporating Warhol's works. Problems addressed were blending background images and adjusting colors. Feedback received suggested better text positioning, which was then implemented.
7. Task 4 – Evaluation – Production
Describe three strengths of your final pieces.
1.) I think the colour scheme worked really well as a lot of pop art designs I had previously seen
used a primary colour in the background which would be the main colour on the design with other
bright colours used to make the designs on the background stand out and become a main focus
point.
2.) I also like the use of the pop art dot overlay, I feel it makes the design seem more suiting to the
time era of the art movement. It also think that it gives the feeling of the design being more full as
there is something in the remaining background rather than just solid blue.
3.) I think I incorporated Andy Warhol’s work nicely as some of his designs are added behind the
clouds from the background and some are added on to or in to the clouds. It makes it feel like there
is a sense of levels to the poster.
8. Task 4 – Evaluation – Production
Describe three areas for improvement in your final pieces.
1.) I think I could have blended the two background images better if I had spent more time doing so,
the text outline background in the middle feels like it was cut off too close to the text background
making it feel cramped.
2.) I think the idea of having one of Andy Warhol’s pieces in the bottom left most cloud was good but
I think I executed it poorly as I wanted to have the piece take up the entire cloud but it just meant
that part of the piece was cut off. I think with more time and better skills on photoshop I could have
made this idea look a lot better.
3.) I think that the cloud on the middle right may be a bit too big and causing the text in the middle
to feel slightly cramped. If I had just moved the cloud over a bit more to the right so that part of it
was cut off, I think the poster’s text would look better and the poster would feel slightly more
spacious.
9. Task 4 – Evaluation – Problem Solving
Describe three problems you faced in your project and how you solved these
1.) I wanted to have my background with clouds to fill up some of the empty space on my poster but
I also had my text box in the centre of the poster. I needed a way to incorporate the text box image
into the clouds background image. I followed a tutorial on YouTube on how to fade two images
together, this allowed me to blend the edges of the text box image into the cloud background
image.
2.) After finishing my poster, I felt that the colours on the poster where bit bland and dark in places,
to solve this I added brightness and exposure to part of the poster I felt needed it and teen I added
saturation to the poster to bring out the colours slightly more.
10. Task 4 – Evaluation – Working with others
Choose three aspects of your production where you worked well with your
team and this benefited the project
1.) Provided each other with feedback to try to help to make our posters the best we could and
provide a different point of view on the other persons poster to highlight things we may have
missed.
2.) Quickly decided on an art movement and artist that we liked, making the research process very
swift, this meant that we were able to spend more time on our posters rather than most other
groups.
3.) We discovered a way to add a dotted overlay to further develop the feeling of the 1950’s Pop Art
movement artwork.
11. Task 4 – Evaluation - Feedback
Discuss the feedback you received from your tutor during the project and how
you used this to improve the project
I received feedback that my text could have been better positioned if I had only put “Andy Warhol’s
Art Exhibition” in the center text box to make it be the center most focus point and to ensure it
stands out. Then I should have had moved the location and date text lowered to the bottom of the
poster just above the clouds so that I could have allowed for the movement of the main text in the
center. I then did what was said and moved the date and location down, out of the center text box
and made the “Andy Warhol’s” text larger to make it stand out more.
