2. The Vaquiat is a dolphin
/porpoise creature that is near
to extinction
The Vaquiat wasn't discovered
until 1958
The Vaquita has a large dark
ring around its eyes and dark
patches on its lips that form a
thin line from the mouth to the
pectoral fins. Its dorsal surface
is dark gray, sides pale gray
and ventral surface white with
long, light gray markings.
3. The Vaquiat are found in the upper part of Mexico's gulf of
California
New born Vaquita have darker coloration and a wide gray fringe
of colour that runs from the head to the dorsal flukes, passing
through the dorsal and pectoral fins
Vaquiat in Spanish means little cow
Individuals may reach a mature size of 1.2-1.5 m (4-5 ft) and
may weigh 40-55 kg
4. The reasons that the Vaquiat are endangered are because one
reason is that they have natural predators like sharks
but their most greatest threat comes from bycatch, which they
accidently catch the Vaquiat and they drown in the gill nets
5. One way you can help the Vaquita is to tell your friends and
family about these animals and try to get awareness
Another way to help is to stay connected by going to this website
and scrolling to the bottom
http://worldwildlife.org/species/vaquita
One other way is to see the value of marine life and go on a
snorkelling tour
6. The vaquiat is a small dolphin and there are only about 200 of
them left
and we would not want these beautiful dolphins to go extinct.
We also want to stop the byach from catching these marine life
so please try and help save them
