In this seminar, first we will look at how you will prepare your poster. You can create a Creative CV or a vision board. We will go over examples and methods of creating each. Afterwards, we discuss how you can create your own assets. I present four universal principles to create your content empire on the Internet (Medium article). Another article I share is: Create Your Own Creative Assets on the Internet (Medium article). We will look at examples of asset creation and content creation. Finally, you will work on your self-directed learning challenge and create your own SDL evidence table.

With the spread of MOOCs and online multimedia repositories, the barrier to learning resides less and less in the access to learning materials. However, most learning materials including lectures are neither transcribed nor translated into languages other than the original because of the lack of effective solutions giving accurate results and as a consequence language barriers are often difficult to overcome for many current and potential users. In the context of the ever-growing landscape of digital learning materials and resources, the solution to this problem may depend on high-quality automatic translation and transcription systems. In this one-hour webinar we will explore the topic with Jorge Civera from the Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain who is part of an expert team developing automatic educational transcription and translation systems and Ruth Kerr from the University of Naples “Federico II”, Italy who is experienced in delivering MOOCs using this system through the EMMA platform. Is it possible to obtain a reliable high-quality translation from an automatic translation system and what are the strengths and weaknesses of such a process? Can such automatic systems improve the translated content through interaction with a reviewer?

She is a Professor in the Harrington School of Communication and Media at the University of Rhode Island, where she directs the Media Education Lab. One of Renee’s more recent initiatives is the highly successful Mind over Media resource for teachers and others interested in exploring propaganda with students. Many universities and digital libraries have incorporated video into their instructional materials and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are becoming increasingly important. Mirroring the widespread adoption of video-based learning systems, in the last decade there has been an increase in research on the topic and many empirical studies have been conducted.
