• Completed 144 hours in a 72 bed (approx. 36 each floor) Maternal and Infant Services Unit
(Postpartum). Sharp Mary Birch is a center for excellence in regards to maternal health and
breastfeeding services as well as being Magnet-designated. They deliver more than 9,000
babies a year as well as have a level III NICU.
• Cared for 8 patients (4 couplets: Mother and neonate pairs) each shift along with my preceptor.
• Performed culturally-appropriate couplet care while learning professional nursing practice and
collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
