Research Experience
04/2012-05/2013 Research Assistant, Department of Community Medicine
Mercer University School of Medicine, Macon, GA
Under the academic supervision of Dr. Randolph Devereaux, I
assisted on two research projects: Orientation of the Future and
Sense of Community. I assisted in various administrative and
research-oriented tasks to support the research and educational
programming projects. In addition, I assisted in conducting
literature searches and reviews relevant to the material for both
projects. I also corresponded via email with Dr. Devereaux and
other research affiliates in regard to the research projects. I sat in
on several brainstorming sessions and conference calls pertinent to
the research suggesting opinions and feedback relevant to the topic
being discussed. Grant opportunities were also explored and
submitted to the researchers that deemed applicable for possible
funding opportunities.
Fall 2008 – Spring 2010 Directed Study, Department of Psychology
Kennesaw State University, Kennesaw, GA
Directed Study Supervisor: Dr. Christine Ziegler PhD
M. R. Gondron 2
3. Research Project: I created a line of research that investigated
different avenues of influences on sexual promiscuity. Initially the
research focused on the relationship between parenting and sexual
promiscuity. The research was expanded to include self-concept,
and locus of control in addition to parenting practices as potential
predictors of adult sexual promiscuity.
Responsibilities: My responsibilities on this research project
included completing IRB forms and securing IRB certification,
developing and implementing the survey employing an online
engine, searching for literature in PsycINFO, collecting and
analyzing data using SPSS, drawing conclusions, reading empirical
journal articles and preparing power points, manuscripts, and
posters for presentations. During this time, I also helped supervise
and mentor my research partner, who had no prior research
experience or knowledge, on research design and statistical
analyses.

Leadership Experience
Spring 2013 Capstone Project
Assessment of Underage and Youth Binge Drinking in Cobb
County (CDPH), Smyrna, GA
Responsibilities: I developed a survey to measure the use and
abuse amongst youth who reside in Cobb County. Numerous
public health professionals and organizations on the local, state,
and federal level have recognized the use and abuse of alcohol as a

drinking, but when they are drinking they are drinking to become
intoxicated. The purpose of the development of this instrument was
to create a research tool for the Cobb Alcohol Task Force
(CAT)/Cobb and Douglas Public Health Department (CDPH) to
investigate youth accessibility to alcohol find out what they are
drinking, how often, and orchestrate a comparative analysis on the
Cobb County school district areas. This survey being developed
was important because it would allow CAT/CDPH and its affiliates
to more effectively target underage and binge drinking through
educational sessions with the intention of reducing rates of alcohol
related injuries and health problems related to alcohol use and
abuse.
Fall 2012 Internship
Cobb and Douglas Public Health Department; Smyrna, GA
Responsibilities: Under the supervision of Ms. Amy Hoffman,
public health educator, I worked in the health promotion division
of Healthy Behaviors at the Cobb & Douglas Health Department
(CDPH) concentrating on nutrition and physical activity. Several of
the community outreach programs that I was involved with dealt
with educating youth on better lifestyle choices within Cobb
County. During my tenure at CDPH, I volunteered for the Power in
Truth conference. The objective for this conference is to empower
youth in Douglas County to advocate for the prevention of youth
alcohol use under 21, all tobacco use, and abuse of other drugs. I
assisted my preceptor in lesson plan writing for her session entitled
“Not Listening.” This session highlighted the importance of
alcohol and drugs and its influential messages portrayed through
the media towards high school and middle aged school kids.
Spring 2008-Spring 2009 President, Psychology Club
Kennesaw State University
Responsibilities: My responsibilities of the psychology club
included organizing all meetings that incorporated interesting
speakers, trivia, a few laughs, and free pizza every month.
Together we collectively worked as a group and collectively our
meetings were always a success! I mentored other officers and
encouraged members to take an interest and accept leadership roles
within the club and other avenues on campus. I coordinated and
executed several fundraising events such as food and hygiene
drives, our annual fall cook-out, several bake sales, and our raffle
for Stand Up For Kids. The money we raised was used for the
Psychology Club Scholarship and Stand Up For Kids. Stand Up
For Kids is a non-profit organization that helps homeless and
runaway teens in the Atlanta area. During my tenure as President,
we were also awarded the American Democracy Project:
Outstanding Organization of the Year in 2008 and I was honored
M. R. Gondron 4
5. as a finalist in the Nancy S. King Student of the Year Award in
2009.
Fall 2008-Spring 2009 Student Mentor

Responsibilities: Under the academic supervision of Dr. Christine
Ziegler, I mentored a fellow student with no research experience
through the research process of gathering and analyzing data,
drawing conclusions and preparing for conferences that resulted in
multiple juried presentations.
Summer 2003-Present Restaurant Manager/Bartender
Willie Rae’s; Marietta, GA
Responsibilities: I held this job during my entire academic career.
