20. Levels of Questioning
Analysis question (level three)
Question that has no correct answer. These are
questions that have limited choices and are answered
with an opinion that is supported by some evidence or
logical thought.
Example: Do you agree that it was a good decision to
base the UN headquarters in the United States?
Explain your answer.
Analysis questions can begin with any word. The
important thing is that they cannot have a correct
answer.

21. Levels of Questioning
Synthesis question (level four)
Question that has no correct answer. These are
questions that have many possibilities and are
answered with an opinion that is supported by some
evidence or logical thought.
Example: If the UN had not been founded after WW2,
how could world relations be different from what they
are today?
Analysis questions can begin with any word. The
important thing is that they cannot have a correct
answer (at least in the present time).

Synthesis– requires
explanation of opinion-
based response, based on
unlimited options
Analysis – requires explanation of
opinion-based choice, based on two
or three options.
Comprehension– requires complete factual
explanation
Knowledge – short, factual answer required
