building capacity by providing
100 families over five years with
affordable housing opportunities

To date, more than $600,000 has
been raise toward our $1 million
goal from early contributors.
Between now and June 30th,
2016, we will be launching the
public phase of the campaign to
raise the remaining $400,000 and
we need your help. We hope that
you can be part of the solution.
Come join us on the course at the Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck,
Michigan with your team of 4 players! Ticket cost is $600 per team or $500
if registered on or before May 20th. On the day of the outing, registration
starts at 7:00am with a shotgun
start at 9:00am. Included is 18
holes with a cart, a golf gift, access
to the practice facility, two meals,

spring 2016
we build strength, stability, and
self-reliance through shelter.
Our refreshed Habitat for Humanity
brand was rolled out in February,
and is a simple, strong statement of
who we are and why we exist.
Habitat believes in the idea that no
matter who we are or where we
come from, we all deserve to have
a decent life.We deserve to know
we have the power to take care of
ourselves and build our own futures.
news from our executive director
Lakeshore Habitat is entering the final phase
of our ‘Blueprint to ReBuild the Lakeshore’
campaign. We are grateful for the outpouring
of support that has already been provided! Did
you know that almost half of the families in our
community are spending a disproportionate
amount of their income on housing? This leaves
them with little income to handle items like car
repairs and medical expenses. While jobs are
available; wages have not kept pace with the increase in housing costs.
We realize it will take an enormous effort to respond to this need.We are
one part of the solution and we need your help. I hope you will give serious
consideration to supporting our work in this community.
Thank you and God bless each of you,
Jack
construction update
“Thank you Habitat for believing
and investing in us as well as
adopting us into your family.We
love you and can’t wait to
introduce our new baby Kai to
you very soon.”
the ReStore® corner
The Eastburn family is eager to have a safe and
stable home environment to raise their children in,
and to have a place where they can invest in the
lives of others and their community. Great progress is
being made on their home.Their home will be the first
Habitat Strong home in Michigan, too!
Habitat Strong homes are designed to help counties
being located in a particular high wind speed zoned
area with protection through a new roofing technology
and materials. This will ensure that the Eastburn
family’s home will be best protected from wind damage
now and in the future.
volunteer spotlight
Jim Polet has been volunteering with Lakeshore Habitat for several
years, consistently 2-3 times a week. His passion for building and
excellent volunteer service record earned him the title of Volunteer of the
Year in 2013, and he was recently honored as the first person to reach
1,000 service hours since 2014!
It is volunteers like Jim that allow us to build affordable homes for low-
income families in Holland. This is what a hero looks like!
We would love your help with our three new builds planned for 2016!
These constructions include homes on Sunnyjune Avenue, Beeline
Road, and Reed Street in Holland. Come serve the community and help
build a new life with a Lakeshore Habitat family!
