in order to encourage a normative legitimization
CGM was created in 1987 from 4 consortia to support -through consultancy,
training an assistance- the development of other consortia of social
cooperatives. Law 381/91 on social cooperatives was approved in 1991.

Ensure dignity to all people, protecting and curing fragilities
Since the beginning this has been the mission of CGM’s
district social cooperatives that deal with the elders, people
with disabilities, psychiatric patients ecc.
They pursue holistic approached and try to involve these
people as much as possible in the cooperative’s activity.
5700 psychiatric patients assisted
767 residential houses for psychiatric patients

50 daily centres for elders
155 domestic services for elders

200 structures for people with disabilities (residential, daily services)

Children and families together for the future to come
Education and wellbeing of children and youngsters is
what drives the action of the cooperatives that are
specialized in childhood and families services such as:
kindergarten, domestic assistance to minors, youngsters
activities centres, holidays and leisure centres, laboratories
in schools, family centres.

Deals with projecting and realizing hospitality
projects, social, sanitary, legal, psychological and scholar
assistance to migrants in several structures on the Italian
territory .

Environmentally and socially sustainable businesses
The partnership between CGM, its coops and Renovo aims
at providing new job opportunities within the activities of
running a renewable energy biomass plant.
Social
enterprises will be asked to provide the material to be
burned and to work in the plant and in the greenhouses
around the plant.

Social cohesion for urban re-generation
The projects of social housing within CGM’s network aim at
combining an offer of housing at affordable prices with
the need to promote social cohesion and urban
regeneration especially in metropolitan areas such as
Milan, Turin and Florence.
