3. Unmanned aviation is spreading from being a regional topic to taking on a European
dimension with harmonised regulations and unlimited scenarios. The sector is on the
brink of embarking upon a new era. A special report by Time Magazine recently com-
pared this poised position to the sudden surge experienced in smartphones or the
Internet. So we are crouching in the starting blocks of a revolution, without yet being
able to properly understand it.
There is no better time than right now to get talking to all the parties involved – the
market players, politicians, administrative bodies, manufacturers and service provi-
ders creating thousands of jobs in this sector in European member states – and start
shaping the future.
Change unleashes new opportunities, but also calls for the courage to break out, the
optimism to leave our comfort zones, and the pioneering spirit to venture down new
paths. UAV DACH – unmanned aviation association – is launching the EUROPEAN
DRONE SUMMIT (EDS2018) as a platform for politicians, experts, decision-makers and
users to break this new ground.
The EDS2018 in Frankfurt encapsulates this change. The time has now come to instiga-
te meaningful uses of UAS and drones and to encourage the general public to embrace
this development wholeheartedly. I wish you interesting discussions, intensive interac-
tion and lasting contacts – and thank you for your sterling support in getting successful
projects based on this fascinating and useful technology off the ground.

4. The EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT is a European conference for the internatio-
nal drone industry to explore market requirements and share ideas for the fu-
ture. Personalities from the fields of politics, law-making, research, industry and
business come together to discuss the way forward for achieving acceptance and
devising solutions for safe and effective commercial use of unmanned aircraft
in Europe. The benefits of UAS for global society are always at the forefront
of things. One of the highlights will be the panel discussion with high-ranking
representatives from the UAS sector.
At the same time, the EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT offers a platform for sharing
the potential, purposes and demands of using UAS in a professional environ-
ment. Specialist meetings, especially on the topics of
Geodesy and inspection
Fundamentals of safe flight
Transport and logistics
Public security
open up the opportunity to present concepts from the point of view of UAS flight
service providers and on the other hand to formulate the demands and require-
ments for the best use of UAS in specific business sectors.
The EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT provides all participants with information about
the benefits and market potential, trends, as well as visions of using UAS. It is
certainly the place to be if you want direct contact with all the experts on one day.
The EUROPEAN DRONE SUMMIT lives up
to its aim of being an “influencer”.
