Virus lab and Cyber Security
Responsibilities include identifying risk, to participate in risk mitigation activities, and to
provide infrastructure, application, information, and operational security. In addition I scan
and remove viruses from user’s home drives and desktop computers, laptops and ensure
Anti-Virus software is updated regularly.
I have worked closely with campus IT security on building effective processes and
procedures to enhance the way we deal with security incidents.
Developed a security lab for isolating sample viruses using Ubuntu SAN Workstation and
Windows 7 Machines Installed with 3 alternative Anti-Virus solutions. Use of sandboxing to
determine the malware payloads and scanning infected network folders.
IT security within our team is the upmost concern since the outbreak of a very destructive
virus incident on the 10th June 2015. I discovered Crypto-Locker virus on the shared areas
and desktops and organized the recovery of the damaged data on the network and enforced
the users affected to change their passwords.
