WHAT IS THE TABLE?
• MS ACCESS TABLES ARE THE KEY OBJECT IN THE ACCESS
FILE, AS THEY CONTAIN THE DATA THAT IS STORED IN
THE DATABASE.
HOW TO CREATE TABLES USING MS
ACCESS?
Creating a table in design view
• On the Create tab, click on Table Design
Creating new fields
• In the first row of the Field Name column, type the name
of your first field, following the naming conversation
listed above.
WHAT IS PRIMARY KEY AND FOREIGN KEY?
• A PRIMARY KEY IS A SPECIAL RELATIONAL DATABASE
TABLE COLUMN (OR COMBINATION OF COLUMNS)
DESIGNATED TO UNIQUELY IDENTIFY ALL TABLE
RECORDS.
• A FOREIGN KEY IS A COLUMN OR GROUP OF COLUMNS
IN A RELATIONAL DATABASE TABLE THAT PROVIDES A

HOW TO WRITE QUERIES TO DISPLAY DATA IN THE
TABLE?
 Click the Create > Query Design button on the
Ribbon.
• Queries are use to search a database and extract
information. A query enables you to find and view data
stored in one or more tables.
 Types of queries
 Select query
 Update query
Choose the tables to include in the
query.
 Choose the fields to include and adjust the
criteria.
 Click the Run

 A collection of fields related to one person or
object is called a record.
 A collection of records is called a data table
 A collection of related tables is called a relational
database
 Primary key is a column which enables to identify
a record uniquely.
 Foreign key is field or combination of field of one table
can be used to uniquely identify rows of another table
these field are called foreign key.
 Data types – Number, Text, Memo, Date/Time,
Currency, Yes/No, OLE object, Auto
number and Hyperlink.
 Main three types of relationships among tables.
