To date, ten peer-reviewed studies have reported reported clinically significant improvements in IQ following intensive early behavioral intervention. There has been considerable variation across studies with regard to the specific behavioral components included in these studies and also in the amount of treatment provided. Nevertheless, across these studies, the median IQ gain was about 20 points.. Not quite as large as those reported by Lovaas, but still impressive. In addition, the general trend across studies is that the number of hours of treatment per week is significantly correlated with gains in IQ scores.
