2. Short forms used in patterns : 1
S
= Subject
V
= Verb
O
= Object
To be = the forms of to be.
have/has = forms of have.
had
= Past tense form of have.
shall/will = for Future tense.
3. Short forms for Verb forms :

= Present tense form of Verb.
V+ed = Past tense form of Verb.
V+en = Past participle form of Verb.
V+ing = Present participle form.
These forms can be remembered by the
number of their forms. E.g. 1st form,
2nd form, 3rd form and 4th form of Verb
respectively.
4. Short forms for Verb forms :
be = Present tense form of ‘to be’.
e.g. am, is, are.
be+ed = Past tense form of ‘to be’.
e.g. was, were.
13. Future Perfect Tense.
I shall have been written a letter.
You will have been broken the pot.
S + shall/will + have been + V+en +O
14. Present Perfect Continuous Tense.
I have been writing a letter.
Rahul has been working hard.
S + have/has + been + V+ing + O
15. Past Perfect Continuous Tense.
I had been writing a letter.
You had been doing best.
S + had been + V+ing + O
16. Future Perfect Continuous Tense.
I shall have been writing a letter.
Anil will have been running a stall.
S + shall/will + have been + V+ing +O
