UNIVERSIDAD AUTONOMA DEL ESTADO DE HIDALGO
ESCUELA SUPERIOR DE TLAHUELILPAN
LESSON PLAN
LIC. Julie Gloss
TOPIC: SIMPLE PRESENT
TIME: 1 HOUR 40 MINUTES
MAJOR: ADMINISTRATION
SEMESTER: SECOND
GROUP: 01
STS’ NUMBER: 29
Objectives: Sts will be able to talk about their daily routine, learn and practice the simple present, read an article about an atypical routine and write about routines.
Activities
Warm up: (05 minutes)
T starts the class by asking sts how they are then writes the following words and phrases on the board: eat, get up, travel by plane, go to bed, watch tv, and If necessary, pantomime the actions to convey the meanings. T asks students to say which word does not belong to the group. T explains that something we do every day is called a routine, and says that today's lesson is about routines
Activity I: Routines (15 minutes)
T elicits students to say other things that they do every day. Then the T shows some flashcards about daily routines
Activity II: Vocabulary (05 minutes)
T will use a Hand out and will go through the words on the list. She will explain the new words to students and if it is necessary T pantomimes the actions or shows pictures to convey the meanings, after that T will ask sts whether they do these actions in the morning, afternoon or evening; or whether they do them every day, twice a week, sometimes, and so on.
Activity III: Grammar: The Simple Present (20 minutes)
T will write on the board quot;
What do you do in the morning?quot;
and T will use another handout where they have to check yes or no. Then T has them tell the class quot;
In the morning I ...quot;
using the first person of the verb.
T writes on the board: quot;
I feed the cat. He feeds the cat. T will elicit from students the difference between the two sentences and she will explain how the third person is formed. Now T elicits third person for all verbs on the flashcards and asks sts to write some of them on the board, and also practice pronunciation.
In pairs have students trade papers, and tell the class what's true about their partners: quot;
Sally takes a shower in the morning. She eats breakfast...quot;
.
Activity IV: Grammar: The Negative (20 minutes)
T will write on the board: quot;
I live in Australia.quot;
. This will cause a reaction on the sts because they know that’s no true so, then T corrects the sentence writing quot;
I don't live in Australia.quot;
T continues doing some similar examples in order sts understand the negative form in simple present, using third person too.
T will give sts another Hand out where the students should mark sentences T or F. They should put F sentences into negative and write a new, true sentence.
Activity V: Reading: A Family Routine (20 minutes)
Sts will do a reading so, T will pre-teach words which may be tricky on the reading and have students read and answer the true false questions. T will do a feedback, trying to elicit correct answers from students. For example, quot;
Levi doesn't go shopping in the afternoon. He goes shopping in the morning.quot;
Activity VI: Writing (20 minutes)
T will write the words quot;
A Very Bad Dayquot;
on the board, and she will start a first line of the essay writing on the board: quot;
Dan wakes up late.quot;
Sts have to continue with the essay teacher will go around the class to help them with vocabulary and with the correct form of the verbs. T will suggest things like quot;
the alarm clock doesn't work, he gets cold water in the shower, he spills his cup of coffee, he cannot find his keys, he misses the bus,quot;
and so on, in order to do a good writing.
Vocabulary: Routines
to brush your teethto have lunchto feed your petto have dinnerto get upto make the bedto go to the gymto put on make-upto go hometo shaveto go to bedto take a showerTto go to workto take vitaminsto have breakfastto wash your hair
Your Morning Routine
ActivityYesNoTake a shower Go to the bathroom Shave Put on make-up Make the bed Take vitamins Have a cup of coffee Eat breakfast Feed the cat
True or False?
Mark these sentences True or False. Then he picks up his daughter at school, and spends the afternoon with her. Sometimes they walk in the park, and sometimes they play ball or watch TV. In the evening he cooks dinner for the family.
