Other devices, such as Blackberries, iPods and other smart phones may be permitted for specific activities. Devices must be used in the classroom ONLY for specific, educational purposes as specified by the teacher. Personal communications (Facebook, email, chat) or digital entertainment (such as games or movies) are NEVER permitted inside the classroom, unless for specific educational activities authorized by the teacher. Teachers should develop routines and procedures defining when and how computers should be used in their classroom. It is the responsibility of the teacher to clearly establish and communicate these expectations. Computers should be treated as basic educational tools. So … I want you to think a little bit about the big picture. Imagine to yourself what your classroom
Students should have the ability to help themselves. Parents should have the ability help their students. Especially if you empower them.
Teachers have been UBD’d to death, and in many schools spend a lot of time and energy worrying about whether their long range plans and lesson plans and daily planners fit the exact correct format. This is understandable … blah, blah, blah BUT sometimes I think the brilliant, simple, obvious unassailable logic of UBD.
Also personal goals for yourself – use it to iron out what you perceive as rough spots in your own program. Whatever it is, there is probably an app for that.
Accessing great resources also means teaching kids to access them, and going through the process of sharing them.
Remember: this doesn’t just apply to the students.
