AUTHENTIC TASK
CIVIL RESISTANCE IN SOUTH AFRICA 1970s TO 1980
The learning activities are designed for learners to critically engage with Overcoming
Apartheid’s unique multimedia materials in order to learn about White supremacy in
South Africa and the popular struggle for freedom and equality through Steven Bantu
Biko’s Black Consciousness Movement when he advocated that Africans must pride
themselves with their natural hair which I can contextualize it with the current issue of
the Pretoria Girls High School as a way to keep the activity to be relevant to the
learners.
OVERVIEW OF THE TASK
Learners must analyze and interpret the photograph of Steve Biko and contextualize
it with the current issue of the Pretoria Girls High school hair debacle.
