5. INTRODUCTION
What is meant by Education ?
Education is the delivery of knowledge, skills and information from
teachers to students.

6. Importance of Education in Islam
 According to the saying of Last Prophet (P.B.U.H.) for the sake of
Knowledge you can travel to the longest distance like Arabia from
China. (Al-Hadith).
 “Seeking ‘Ilm (knowledge) is incumbent on every Muslim.”

7. EDUCATION IN PAKISTAN
 The Educational system of Pakistan is among the least-developed in
the world. The system was based on the British colonial educational
system, which lasted until 1947. The colonial system was meant to
educate a small portion of the population to run the government.
They are three main sectors of education system in Pakistan:
 Formal Education
 Informal Education
 Religious Education

8. Formal Education:
• Formal education means education or training received from
institutions like schools, colleges, or universities. For example, to
become a doctor, one should receive formal
education.

9. Informal Education
 Informal education is a general term for education outside of a
standard school setting. It can refer to various forms of alternative.
 It is called informal because; it has no regular curriculum, not
obligatory and no formal certification.
E.g
 Researching or Reading.

10. Religious Education
 Religious education system provides Islamic education.
 They run on aid provided by government or other party.
 They provide free religious education with boarding.

 Literacy rate ranges from 96% in Islamabad to 28% in Kohlu District.
 9 crore Pakistanis (49% population) have command over English
 On the top of that, Pakistan produces 445,000 university and 10,000
computer science graduates.

 Even after that Pakistan is on –136th position in world –113th out of 120
registered UN members.

16. Feudalism In Pakistan
 The feudal consists of landlords with large joint families possessing
hundreds or even thousands of acres of land. They operates in
remote areas of Pakistan , sometimes even operates a private prison
in which they kept enemies or even local people.

17. Gender Issue
 In Pakistan the division of labor and family responsibilities have been
the main barriers in achieving a female literacy rate equal to that of
males. The lowest female literacy rate in Pakistan is in district
Kohistan (2.95 %) and highest in Karachi Central (73.92 %).

19. Cost Of Education
 The cost of education is another determinant for parents to decide
whether to send their children; to government schools, private
schools or no schools. Cost of education has increased further due
to increased inflation. Educating a child in private school costs twice
to society compared to the cost in public school. Although private
schools appear cheaper but government fees appear “free” to
parents.

The reforms required in education will be achieved by unity of

21. Achievements
 Dr Abdus Salam, Pakistan’s first and only theoretical physicist and
Nobel Prize winner.
 14 year old Pakistani student Sikandar Mehmood Baloch has made
world record after creating Microsoft and Google certified seven
computer operating systems.
 Fawad Hassan secured 9A* in A levels. Now studying on scholarship
at McGill University, Canada.
 Ali Nawazish from Rawalpindi broke a world record when he passed
23 A-levels in subjects including pure mathematics, travel and
tourism, and sociology. The 18 year old received 21 A grades and a
B and a C.
