3. Introduction
• The word cloud computing is comprise of two
words : cloud and computing
• The word cloud means anytime, anywhere or
network
• The word computing means to compute
something such as processor, memory and
storage
4. Definition
• Cloud computing provides us means by which
we can utilize applications as utility over the
internet
• Helps us to create, configure, modify, define or
contrive and customize the applications online.
e.g. Web conferencing, E-mail, Customer
Relationship Management (CRM)
5. Description
• Cloud computing is present within the accessible
location such as:
1) Public Cloud (LAN, MAN, WAN)
they are also known as shareable storage
2) Private Cloud (VPN)
they are also known as dedicated storage
6. Description
• Cloud computing provides us information about
IT
• Nowadays cloud computing is rapidly expanding
in the field of IT
• Cloud computing based on the modern
principles of IT as compared to the traditional
concepts of Grid Computing, Distributive
Computing etc
7. Working Models
• There are two types of models that have been
discussed so far in cloud computing :
1. Deployment Models
2. Services Models
8. Deployment Models
• Deployment models define the type of access to
the cloud, i.e. , how the cloud is located? Cloud
can have any of the four types of access:
9.
10. Deployment Models
• Public Cloud: It allows systems and services to
be easily accessible to the general public. Public
cloud may be less secure because of its openness,
e.g. , e-mail.
• Private Cloud: It allows systems and services
to be accessible within an organization. It offers
increased security because of its private nature.
11. Deployment Models
• Community Cloud: It allows systems and
services to be accessible by group of
organizations
• Hybrid Cloud: It is mixture of public and
private cloud. However, the critical activities are
performed using private cloud while the non-
critical activities are performed using public
cloud
12. Services Models
• Services Models are the reference models on
which the Cloud Computing is based. These can
be categorized into four basic service models as
listed below:
13. Services Models
1. Application as a Service (AaaS)
2. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
3. Platform as a Service (PaaS)
4. Software as a Service (SaaS)
14. Application as a Service
• These are the first kind of cloud computing
• Under this a service is made available to end-
user
• End-user made an account with the service
provider
• The first famous application was web-based
email services by hotmail in 1996
15. Infrastructure as a Service
• Cloud computing vendors offer infrastructure as
a service
• One may avail hardware services such as
processors, memory, networks
• It may be provided on rent or free for some time
span
16. Platform as a Service
• Cloud computing vendors also provide platform
as a service
• In this an operating system is provided to the
user
• It may be provided on rent or free for some time
span
• Some cloud computing vendors are Amazon,
Microsoft, Google etc
17. Software as a Service
• Here a customer upon registration is allowed to
use software accessible through internet
• The data stored on service providers
• It may be provided on rental basis or free for
some time span, after this you have to purchase
it for use
• Expenses based on time of use
18. Working of Cloud Computing
• Cloud Computing consist of two ends:
I. Front End (user, client, computer)
II. Back End (cloud)
• Connection between the front end and the back
end is the internet
19. Working of Cloud Computing
• For understanding of working of cloud
computing suppose that:
• You use Browser to connect to the Google Docs,
so that you can create documents in cloud
• Browser (front end) and Google Docs (back
end), the connection between them is the
internet
20. Working of Cloud Computing
• Front end is visible to the user
• Back end works like a black box and not visible
to the user
• The upper described steps are not the case all
the times
• A custom application could be used to make
connection with the cloud
22. Cloud Architecture
What is happening inside the cloud?
• Data center is present within the cloud
• It consists of many computers such as servers
• Some of the servers are dedicated to server
requests
• Data server holds the data
• Almost any program could be make to work in a
cloud model
23. Cloud Architecture
• e.g. e-mail, spreadsheet, games, presentations
etc
• The processors are used to monitor the traffic
and load to verify that everything work smoothly
• Servers are connected with each other and form
internal networks
• Cloud provider will take care of maintainance
25. Disadvantages
• Requires a constant internet connection
• Does not work well with low-speed connections
• Features might be limited
• Can be slow
• Stored data can be lost
• Stored data might not be secure
26. Cloud Storage
• Create an account, username and password
• Content lives with the account in the cloud
• Log onto any computer with Wi-Fi to find your
content
27. Download for Storage
• Download a cloud based app to on your
computer
• App lives on your computer
• Save files to the application
• When connected with the internet it will
synchronize with the cloud
• The cloud can be accessed from any internet
connection
