3. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: (CLEAN INDIA)
(2015-2019)
Recently, a new Government came into power and one
of its main priorities are to make India clean. And for
the same objective, the Government has launched a
scheme in the name of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”.
The Government has associated the Abhiyan with
Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi as he was a
great champion of the cleanliness cause in the country
and throughout his life was involved in activities
related to sanitation and hygiene.
4. Swachh Bharat Campaign………
The Abhiyan was launched by Prime
Minister Narendra Modi on 2nd of October,
2014 at Raj hat, New Delhi with an aim to
make India clean.
Aim is to provide sanitation facilities to
every family, including toilets, solid and
liquid waste disposal systems, village
cleanliness, and safe drinking water supply
by 2nd October, 2019.

6. It will be a befitting tribute to the
Father of the Nation on his 150th
birth anniversary. It is significant
that the PM himself is taking very
proactive role in making the
campaign a success; at Raj hat he
started the campaign by cleaning
the street himself.
7. However, it has been clearly declared
that the campaign is not only the duty
of the Government but each and every
citizen of the country is equally
responsible to keep the nation clean.
8. History of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan……
The campaign of clean India movement is the
biggest step taken ever as a cleanliness drive till
date. On the day of launch of campaign around 3
million government employees including students
from schools and colleges had participated in the
event
Common public aware of it. This event was
organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan on 2nd of
October in 2014 in the presence of 1500 people.
This event was flagged off by the Indian President,
Pranab Mukherjee.

15. Objectives of Swachh Bharat…….
The campaign of Swachh Bharat launched by the
government of India is aimed to accomplish various
goals and fulfil the vision and mission of “Clean India”
by 2nd of October 2019 which is 150th birth anniversary
of the great Mahatma Gandhi. It has been expected
that the investment to cost would be over 62000 crore
of Indian rupee (means US$ of 9.7 billion). It has been
declared by the government that this campaign is
taken as “beyond politics”

India.
To convert the insanitary toilets.
To make people aware of healthy sanitation
practices by bringing behavioural changes in
people.
To link people with the programmes of
sanitation and public health in order to
generate public awareness.

cleanliness.
To completely start the scientific processing,
disposals reuse and recycling the Municipal Solid
Waste.
To provide required environment for the private
sectors to get participated in the Capital Expenditure
for all the operations and maintenance costs related to
the clean campaign

21. Social Responsibility (CSR) schemes which is a
statutory requirement as per Companies Act,
2013. CSR is a mechanism through which
companies invest in activities beneficial to
society as a whole.
Recently major corporate houses such as L&T,
DLF, Vedanta, Bharti, TCS, Ambuja Cements,
Toyota Kirloskar, Maruti, Tata Motors, Coca
Cola, Dabur, Aditya Birla, Adani, Infosys, TVS
and many others have earmarked budgets for
Swachh Bharat projects
22. According to one estimate Rs 1000
Crore worth of various cleanliness
projects are in the pipeline by corporate
sector.
These projects include building toilets
in distant villages, running workshops
on behavioral changes, waste
management, and water hygiene and
sanitation activities among other
things.
23. How to Involve in the Swachh
Bharat…………
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is started to make India a clean
India by the effort of all the citizens living in the country. It
has been clearly declared by the Prime Minister, Narendra
Modi that anyone may actively participate in the event
anytime.
He just need to take snaps of the dirty places and also take
snaps of the same places after cleaning them and upload
both, before and after snaps on the social media websites
like Facebook, Twitter, etc to familiarize and motivate other
common people to do the same in order to fulfil the vision
of clean India.

Corporate social responsibility is basically a
concept where by companies decide
voluntarily to contribute to a better society
and a cleaner environment
Corporate social responsibility is
represented by the contributions
undertaken by companies to society through
its business activities and its social
investment. This is also to connect the
Concept of sustainable development to the
company’s level.

Andhrapradesh
Honble chief minister of Andhrapradesh shri. N. Chandra
Babu Naidu with goal to achieve this newly launched
campaign has found swachh Andhra corporation on 1st may
2015.
To implement the objectives of swachh bharat mission.
The primary objective of the mission is elimination of open
defecation achieving 100% collocation of disposal waste
and recycling of municipal solid waste.
To effect behavioral change regarding healthy sanitation
practices.

Visakhapatnam city achieved 5th rank in
“CLEANLINESS ”and 1st in independent observation
category in the entire country in the lost year 2015.
It as a challenge GVMC with cooperation from officials
/workers and support from community conducted
time to time cleanliness drive in the city as per
guidelines of SWACHH BHARAT MISSION.

For strict implementation of activities, imposing fines
for dumping at various places like ward wise,
commercial complex, shopping malls, restaurants,
markets, roads ,foot paths and drains.
To control open defecation /urination and creating
awareness in public involving self help groups,
residence welfare associations, N.G.Os, through urban
community development in this respect conducted
meetings at ward level.
