Bob Steinkamp passed away on December 27, 2010. He was involved with Rejoice Marriage Ministries and helped the author, Kim, when she was going through a divorce before becoming a Christian. Bob provided counsel and encouragement to Kim through correspondence even though they never met in person. Kim admired Bob's boldness in proclaiming his Christian faith and standing up for biblical beliefs. He will be missed for his humor, wisdom and dedication to helping others through difficult times in their marriages and lives.
1. Bob Steinkamp went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 9:45pm on
Monday, December 27, 2010. Information regarding memorial funds and service
times will be available in the near future. Charlyne and their daughter, Lori, have
shared more about Bob’s passing on our Web site and a link appears at the bottom of
today’s devotional. Please continue reading as Kim shares how God used Bob in her
life.
A Godly Man
"We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly man who does
his will." John 9:31
Several years ago, before I knew the Lord, divorced and alone, I had prayed to the
Lord to put a godly man in my life. I didn’t know about marriage restoration or how
hard the Lord fights for covenant marriages. I only knew that I was alone and hurting
and needed someone. I finally opened my heart to Jesus and He stepped in to answer
that prayer.
I came to know Rejoice Marriage Ministries and their encouragement, comfort and
direction were just what I needed. I knew this was where God wanted me for this
season of my life. And Bob Steinkamp was one of the main reasons. He was that
godly man in my life that I had prayed for.
2. Through correspondence with the ministry, I came to know Bob like a father. We
have never actually met in person but I feel like he was one of my dearest friends. He
was open and transparent and not afraid to share his life with others – warts and all.
But most importantly, he was totally on fire for the Lord. He did not back down or
waver in his beliefs and I thank God for that. He was a breath of truth in a world of
lies. Charlyne often called him the knife while she was the bandage. Thank you
Bob for your unwavering conviction and your courage to stand against the lies of the
world. Thank you for helping to keep us on the narrow road. Thank you for not being
afraid to speak the truth.
I have had the privilege to edit several books together with Bob over the past several
years. We enjoyed the camaraderie of writers and I always looked forward to being a
part of one of his books. I admired and enjoyed his unique sense of humor and his
heart for standers. It was so fascinating to see a story come together from bits and
pieces in Bob’s mind. In fact, we had a "book" conversation just a few weeks ago.
Even when he was sick, he was working for God’s kingdom and for us.
My heart is very sad today. I will miss his wit and his words and his heart. But I also
rejoice because I know that he is enjoying his eternal reward. I pray that someday I
will get to meet him on the other side and tell him what I know God said to him.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."
Lord we know that Bob is in Heaven with You right now and that You have wiped
away every tear from his eyes. We pray that You will wipe away our tears today, too,
as we will miss this godly man dearly. Thank You that there is no more suffering or
pain for Bob. Thank You for the work You have done here on earth through him.
What a legacy he has left for us. May we all be as bold as he was in proclaiming the
Good News to those who need to hear it. And may we never forget the example he has
set that God DOES heal and restore broken marriages, families, and lives.
"and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. ‘Never again will
they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,’ nor
any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd;
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’ ‘And God will wipe away every tear
from their eyes.’" Revelation 7:15b-17
God bless,
Kim, a stander in Nebraska
