3. Wart Prevalence & Epidemiology
O Children ages 9-16 are at the highest risk
of getting warts.1
O Peak age is 14.5 for boys and 13 for girls.2
O About 10% of children and adolescents
have warts at any one time.1
O As many as 22% of children will contract
warts during childhood.3

4. Wart Types
O 70% of wart occurrences are common
warts (verruca vulgaris). They mostly
appear on the hands.4
O Plantar warts (foot warts) are the second
most common, affecting 4.5% of the
population. These can be very painful
since they mainly appear on the bottoms
of the feet.3
