MASTERY: PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP

Goals:
To learn successful strategies,
incorporating what I know and what
I will learn, in order to became all
that I was created to be.
STRATEGIES:
1. Read Robert Greene’s book on Mastery
2. Research entertainment industry leaders to learn
latest trends
3. Incorporate ideas learned from previous books
read like, What Makes the Great, Great to obtain
greater insight on living on purpose

Mastery: Personal Development and Leadership
Goals:
Enhance my leadership skills and
learn to deal with people from a
wide variety of backgrounds and
walks of life.
Strategies:
1. Read designated chapters of “Developing the
Leader Within You” and ”The 48 Laws of Power”
2. Find mentors that I can work with and people that I
look up to which will allow me to strengthen my
leadership skills
3. Revisit such books as The Making of A Leader to
refresh my perspective on leadership in the 21st
Century
MAN 630 -
Executive Leadership
GOALS:
To learn how to manage projects
and teams, best utilizing the skills of
my assigned team members
Strategies:
1. Read assigned literature for class
2. Research companies who utilize the
best project and team management
techniques
3. Research www.lynda.com on the
subject of Project Management
MAN 603 – Project and Team Management
GOALS: To learn how to properly
market a product, and create a brand
that will make my company stand alone
while giving the highest customer
quality.
Strategies:
1. Research brand development of iconic companies
2. Read required materials on business storytelling
and brand development
3. Use www.lynda.com to learn about proper aspects
of Branding
MAR 630 –
Business Storytelling and Brand Development
Strategies:
1. Read required materials pertaining to
entertainment business finance
2. Watch www.lynda.com video on Running A
Profitable Business
3. Research the finances of corporations who have
survived through many years of a changing economy
from Delta Air Lines to Disney Studios
GEB 6508 –
Entertainment Business Finance
Goals: To learn about the financing of my
business and how to create a proper financial
strategy for sustainability of my company and
future endeavors
Goals: To learn the art of deal making
by obtaining skills such as negotiation
techniques, critical thinking skills, and
contract negotiating
Strategies:
1. Read required literature for class
2. Read books on proper deal making techniques
3. Watch videos on www.youtube.com from business
people who are skilled at deal making to find out
techniques that are utilized in society today
MAN 6446 –
Negotiation and Deal Making
Goals: To obtain proper skills to
manage artists and products that are
used to create an image. To also learn
to handle unforseen challenges in the
life of an artist’s manager
Strategies:
1. Watch www.lynda.com video on management tips
that will assist in time tested management skills
2. Read required literature on product and artist
management
3. Research managers who have had success with
their artists over time
EBM 591 –
Product and Artist Management
Goals: To learn about entertainment
contracts, copyright and licensing in
the world of entertainment. I want to
have a better grasp on intellectual
property and the rights of its owner
BUL 5628 –
Advance Entertainment Law
Strategies:
1. Read all required materials on entertainment law
2. Study copyright and licensing cases that have
resulted in changes to entertainment law over the past
two decades
3. Utilize alternate resources such as books, This
Business of Music and Music, Money, and Success to
gain greater knowledge of entertainment law
Goals: To learn about media publishing
and distribution in this new age of
digital media and how it affects the
industry and the business that I will
work in
Strategies:
1. Read required materials on media publishing and
distribution
2. Research trends related to 21st Century media
trends
3. Research www.lynda.com and related video sites
such as www.youtube.com in order to find current
trends and philosophies on media publishing and
distribution

Entertainment Media Publishing and Distribution
Goals: To learn effective marketing
strategies for the digital age of
entertainment through online and off
line means
Strategies:
1. Read required materials for class
2. Watch www.lynda.com videos on marketing that
will help gain insight into media marketing
3. Research social media trends related to
entertainment

Digital Marketing
Goals: To utilize the skills that I have
learned over the course of my
education to develop a solid business
plan that will allow me to move forward
with my future goals in the world of
entertainment

1. Read selected materials for business plan
development
2. Research successful business plans online and
through alternate readings
3. Receive and act upon feedback received from peers
and staff in order to improve business plan

Goals: To create an effective
