3. Lung cancer
Lung cancer can arise in any part of lung but 90-95% of cancers are
in the epithelial cell which are pesent in the bronchioles .
Lung cancer are the fourth most common cancer reported in the
Indian males
It account for 6.8% of all malignancies in india
4. definition
Lung cancer also known as lung carcinoma/ bronchogenic
carcinoma
It is a malignant lung tumor characterized by uncontrolled
cell growth in tissues of lung
This growth can spread beyond the lung by the process of
metastasis into nearly tissue or other part of body
7. Small cell lung cancer
Sclc comprise about 15 -25% of lung cancer &is the most aggressive
& rapidly growing of all lung cancer
Associated with ciagreete smoking & expouse to environmental
carcinogens
They tend to spread easily via lymphatic & blood stream
8. It is frequently associated with endocrine disturbances
predominantly central & can cause bronchial obstruction &
pneumonia
9. Non small cell lung cancer
Nsclc are the most common lung cancer accounting for about
80% of all lung cancer
Nsclc can be divided into three main types that are named
based upon type of cell found in the tumor
1. Adenocarcinoma
2. Squamous cell carcinoma
3. Large cell carcinoma
10.
11. adenocarcinoma
it has been associated with lung scarring & chronic interstitial fibrosis
Most common type of carcinoma
40-50% occur in females
Begins in mucous glandular tissue & mostly located in the peripheral
portion of lung
No clincal symptoms until metastasis
Bronchioalveolar carcinoma is a type of adenocarcinoma
12. Squamous cell carcinoma
Second most common carcinoma account for 30 – 35 % of lung
cancer
It is more common in men associate with ciagreete smoking
Arise from bronchial epithelium of lung slow growing cancer mostly
in central bronchi
Usually show early symptoms due to blockage of bronchial tubes &
nodules
Does not metastaise rapidly
