8. Qapp Overview
o Description
o A purpose-built, executable application used to automate network activities
o Use Case:
o Convert any labor-intensive CLI task into a repeatable application
• Check CPU and interface errors across all Qmap devices,
display results on a map, and set visual alarms
• Share standard isolation techniques with other engineers

To speed the isolation of network issues, NetBrain built the Overall Health monitor to visual display the top problem areas in a network. This significantly improves the network operator’s ability to hone in on the problem area to isolate 80% of the network issues almost immediately.
Captures the most common baseline network details
Displays the results visually on the map
Built-in, customizable alarm and threshold values
With the above timeline, it is easily demonstrated that the installation and discovery process of NetBrain can be completed in about 1hr for 1000 nodes. Nodes can be added at the rate of ~2000/hr. These numbers require current generation servers and are measured using Telnet and SNMP discovery methods.
Network bandwidth used in the discovery is considered nominal based on a default discovery thread limit of 64 devices per network server, the varied response times from each of the currently being discovered nodes, and the data mining being text based. An operator should budget ~3Mbps per Network Server for the discovery process.
NetBrain Enterprise Server components (Customer License Server, Workspace Server, Network Server, and Automation Servers) can be installed in one or more server boxes, running Window 2003 Window 2008 or Window 2012. Servers can be deployed in geographically dispersed locations, close to the managed network or users to increase throughput and performance.
*Performance varies based on the resources available on the server and the actual hardware deployed.

With NetBrain’s Qmap, all troubleshooting activities remain in the context of the problem area on a map providing a True Single Pane of Glass. CLI results can be parsed and the appropriate information displayed directly on the map, and/or the user can view full historical raw data. Chart and Monitor data is easily customizable and again, displayed without leaving the context of the map. Work flow is focused and even previous monitor results can be displayed on the map during post-mortem type discussions.
