THE SCHOOL IN THE CLOUD
IMPROVING OUR EDUCATIONAL
SYSTEM
A result of Sugata Mitra’s Hole in the wall experiment.
Computers placed in the walls of rural area for under privileged children to access
Lead to children learning how to use the computers, and in certain case information
stored on them.
Started off as a simple test to see what under privileged children in a near
by slum would do when given a computer.
Lead to a wider scale experiment.

• It’s obsolete
• It’s still good we just don’t need it anymore
• Quote from The teach gap-”Although many of the American teachers we
observed were highly competent at implementing American teaching
methods, the methods themselves were severely limited.”

THE CURRENT EDUCATION
SYSTEM.
• Use child driven education
• Using the Children’s natural curiosity to guide lessons
• Using adult leaders to guide lessons

METHODS
• These to go hand in hand.
• Using the children curiosity to guide lessons is a key concept of
Children Driven Education.
• Children are provided the materials, and teach themselves along with
their classmates.
• Can help children see what they are capable of…
• Bring children closer together.
CHILD DRIVEN EDUCATION, AND
CURIOSITY DRIVEN LESSONS
• A method using adults to help to encourage children, and keep them
motivated while learning.
• Based off the thing that grandparent would normally say or ask.
• What that? You know in my day…etc.
“THE GRANNY METHOD”
For the following activity you will be given a coded message along with all the
information need to solve the message as well as a pencil, and a piece of
paper. You will be allowed about five minutes to work by yourself, and/or
with you classmates to solve the message which will be displayed on the next
slide.

Improving Education with Child-Driven Learning

  • 2. A result of Sugata Mitra’s Hole in the wall experiment. Computers placed in the walls of rural area for under privileged children to access Lead to children learning how to use the computers, and in certain case information stored on them. Started off as a simple test to see what under privileged children in a near by slum would do when given a computer. Lead to a wider scale experiment. THE SCHOOL IN THE CLOUD OVERVIEW

  • 5. • These to go hand in hand. • Using the children curiosity to guide lessons is a key concept of Children Driven Education. • Children are provided the materials, and teach themselves along with their classmates. • Can help children see what they are capable of… • Bring children closer together. CHILD DRIVEN EDUCATION, AND CURIOSITY DRIVEN LESSONS
  • 6. • A method using adults to help to encourage children, and keep them motivated while learning. • Based off the thing that grandparent would normally say or ask. • What that? You know in my day…etc. “THE GRANNY METHOD”

You will be allowed about five minutes to work by yourself, and/or with you classmates to solve the message which will be displayed on the next slide. ACTIVITY
