Technical detail information:
A lot of the work is testing embedded software for the feed station controllers/transmitter-receivers. I also
have to write specifications for that software (based on field experience).
The main goal is to feed each pig its own amount of food while the pigs are able to walk free within their
group.
The system is based on the responder the pigs wear in their right ear. The pigs are able to walk free within
their group. When the pig enters a feed station, a gate is closed behind the pig so it can eat without having
to fight of the other pigs. Its ear responder then recognizes the pig when it puts its head near the antenna
which is located in the feed trough. The processor in combination the software determines how much food
the pig is allowed to get that day. The same technology is also used to guide a pig to a separation area if it
needs to be vaccinated, checked for pregnancy or give birth to her piglets. I also did a lot of testing with the
windows software that is providing the farmer a user-friendlier interface with the feed controller.
Reason for leaving: Not enough technical work, too much “call centre” work.

specifications,
- Connecting and adjusting small pneumatic systems,
- Connecting PC’s to the equipment, installing Triant Health Monitoring software on these PC’s, set-
up the software together with the process engineers, set-up network connections,
- Connecting / repairing small chemical delivery systems.
Reason for leaving: forced by recession.
