7. Water quality :- An
Introduction
What is water quality :-water quality can be defind as
the chemical physical and biological characterstics of water
usually in repect to its suitablity for a designated use.
As we all know water has many use such as for recreation
,drinking, fishers ,agriculture and industry.each of these
designated uses has different defined chemical physical
and biological standards necessary to support that use for
example we expect higher standards for water we drink and
swim in compare to that used in agriculture and industry
8. HYDROGEOCHEMISTRY is a physical chemical and
biological characterstic of water.
* Groundwater is an important source for drinking water
Groundwater makes up about 20% of the world's fresh
water supply, which is about 0.61% of the entire world's
water, including oceans and permanent snow.
*rapid increase in human population coupled with
expanding urbanization and industrialization has led to a
greater imbalance between water availability and water
demand.
* At the same time, good quality of water in adequate
quantity should be available to sustain a healthy.
9. Due to scarcity of surface water, majority of the people in
Rajasthan, have to depend upon ground water resources.
In many areas, ground water is the only available source
for drinking water. In this context
quantitative study is not sufficient for the management of
ground water. Qualitative study of the groundwater is
equally important component of groundwater management
10. Study Area;- Sanganer Tehsil
jaipur
Study Area: Sanganer Tehsil is attached with main
Jaipur city. It lies between 26°49’ to 26°51’ N latitude
and 75°46’ to 75°51’ E longitude. It covers an area of
635.5 sq. km.
hot semiarid with extremes of temperature (15-45°C)
having average rainfall around 650 mm (26 inch.).
11. Safe Drinking water
Free from pathagonic organism
Clear
Not saline
Free from offensive taste or smell
Free from compounds that may have
adverse effect on human health
Free from chemicals that cause corrosion of
water supply system
12. Water contamination
Contaminants that may be in
untreated water include:
Microorganism (viruses and bacteria)
Inorganic contaminants(salts and metals)
Pesticides and herbicides
Sediments
Organic chemical contaminants from industrial
processes and petroleum use
Radioactive contaminants.
Water quality depends on the local geology and
ecosystem,as well as human uses(sewage
disperison,industrial pollution,use of water bodies
as aheat sink)
14. physical parameters
• COLOUR
• May be due to the presence of
organic
matter,metals(iron.manganese)
• Desirable that drinking water be
colorless
• The guideline value is up to 15
true color units (TCU)
