Target Audience
1. Our target audience will be between the ages of 18–30 year olds. This
doesn’t mean that our film will be certificated an “18”, it just indicates
that the content would be for an older audience, however not explicit. A
“15 “certificate would be appropriate as the level of humour and parody
would be too vast for a lower certificate and an 18 would be make it
over rated.
We decided to focus our target audience on an older age group
because so many films are targeted at a younger age group and so
many then exceed that age category and end up with the classic ‘tbc’
label.
The mise en scene of an parody-comedy film targeting the age group
18-30 year olds, would use subtle one-liners and advanced humour to
interact with the audience, as well as very sarcastic and blatant jokes
that emphasis the obvious stupidity the characters personalities
portray. The cheap scenes would entice the audience but put them in
stitches, with the relation to the film being mocked, firmly in their mind.
The lighting would predominantly be natural. The sound – both diagetic
and non-diagetic – would add a comical affect that our target audience
would laugh at and be able to interact with. A younger audience would
also benefit from this style of humour.
Obviously our film will not have the opportunity to include these effects
into our film, but if we were to make a feature length film, our film
would match the conventions above.
We visited www.youtube.com to look at parody film trailers; such as
Epic Movie, Scary Movie, Date Movie and Disaster Movie. These gave
us inspiration for our parody movie, scenes will obviously laughter and
funny one liners also provide us with a good script too. We also looked
at films such as Wimbledon and High School Musical to blend the
parody genre with musical and sporting genres. This will give us a
unique and interesting teaser trailer.
