INTRODUCTION
JANG GROUP OF COMPANIES:
HISTORY & INTRODUCTION:
Jang group of companies is an auxiliary of the INTERNATIONAL MEDIA CORPORATION. It
was initiated in 1939 by MIR KHALIL-UR-REHMAN.
After the independence on august 14, 1947 Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman moved to Karachi and started
publishing industry of newspaper there, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah who was the
Governor General of that time became so much pleasant with his move that he offered the
founder of Jang Group the assistance of government for administration of publishing industry.
But Mir refused to accept the offer, ‘I want the Freedom of Press not the shackles of boundaries
of Government’ said Mir. He also facilitated in the foundation of ‘Council of Pakistan newspaper
Editors’ (CNPE).
The head Quarter of Jang is based in a publishing house in Karachi. It is the oldest and the
largest newspaper and publishing Group. MIR SHAKIL-UR-REHMAN the son of Mir Khalil-
ur-Rehman is the Current owner, Group Chief Executive and Editor in Chief of the company and
also supposed to be the third richest resident of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The News International:
The news international is the subsidiary of Jang Group of Companies and was founded on
February 11, 1991. The headquarters based in Karachi and also runs the outstations in Lahore

and Rawalpindi/Islamabad. An overseas outstation is in London, U.K and they are working on
starting publication in New York City, U.S.A

The organization couriers an estimation on the truth and fairness in their financial
statement to maintain its standing in the market
An external audit process ensures that a company's internal controls, processes,
guidelines and policies are adequate, effective and in compliance with governmental
requirements, industry standards and company policies. This type of audit also ensures
that reporting mechanisms prevent errors in financial statements.

I. REPORTING OF VIOLATIONS:
Employees are encouraged to report any violation of the Code, counting any troubles
arising from unethical practices.
Customers and employees can reach the management regarding any delinquent they may
have, including any violation of this Code, to the immediate supervisor, associate
manager HR for any other queries.
Employees can feel free to talk about whatsoever, The HR took feedbacks on regular
basis if employees having any distress in whichever situation like ‘sexual harassment’ in
the organization and strict action may be taken as per the prerequisite.

Ans.: Basically it is a newspaper. We divide our goals in short term and long term, and then we
do focus on short term goals then we further divide these short term goal in daily and weekly
targets. We work in a team every city branch is working with its own team having its own leader
so working as a team mends them towards self-check and self-balance.

Ans.: Usually we don’t face copyright problem.

Ans.: It depends, while till now we are not able to face any of it. Because we have a solid
monetary Chanel so if something illegitimate happens our monetary system is enough to handle
it. We disclose every necessary information amongst our employees, we are properly managed.

No, honesty cannot be inappropriate in anyways because this is what makes you successful.
Q25.Can you share some experience where you have to swallow the beating from doing the right
thing?
When I started in ’94 my head of department ask me to do something which was not right in
front him I said yes but then approach the upper level management and cancel that work which
was inappropriate.

Yes, we try to resolve their queries.

No, not much because it is a field of media so not so much of Islamic ethics are been followed.

We provide good, friendly environment. There is interaction, coordination and understanding
between each of an employee.

SUMMARY
Ethics is one of the oldest disciplines, the object of study of which is morality. The
term ethics was introduced by Aristotle, who thoughtfully remarked that ethics "helps to know
what to do and what should be avoided".
Modern ethics is first and foremost, the science that allows to consider human relationships, as
well as to evaluate the behavior of people in terms of generally accepted norms. There are
professional ethics, which includes a system of moral norms of human behavior, belonging to a
particular social group. An entrepreneur should not only know the ethical behavior standards, but
also to follow them.
Business ethics is the combination of two words as I understand from this whole course, if we
want to do business it must be according to ethics and what is “ethics”? It is the inner voice, it is
the inner peace, it is the concept, it is the value, it is the belief and it is a norm of life.
Any religion has the brief view for humanity and after understanding ethics we can easily say
that, humanity is ethics and ethics is for humanity.

There are so-called professional ethics, and in particular –business ethics, which includes
standards of entrepreneur behavior. Entrepreneurial activity is impossible without the numerous
contacts with people; it is not designed to work alone.
