5883 10,000 / 9,000 watt air-cooled propane/natural gas powered automatic standby generator with steel
enclosure. Ideal for home use, this generator powers up automatically and within seconds of a power outage
without the need for any manual startup. Without any buttons to push or cords to plug in, an automatic standby
generator starts up by itself even when you're away.

It features a Generac OHVI engine, an exclusive air-cooled generator engine with a high-performance design
that can accommodate large electrical loads. The engine optimizes power to respond swiftly to changing
conditions. Generac's Nexus controller offers a dual line, tri-lingual LCD display that allows for easy monitoring
and management of generator functions. And external "at-a-glance" indicator lights provide an easy way to tell
generator status without opening the generator enclosure.
This Guardian generator does not include a transfer switch, enabling you to customize your installation. It does
include a composite mounting pad, eliminating the need to pour a concrete base.
The Generac Guardian 5883 meets CARB requirements, and it requires a Group 26R 12-volt minimum 525 CCA
battery (sold separately).

or going outside in a storm to start a portable generator. After all LP or natural gas and electrical connections
are completed, this Generac Guardian standby generator is ready to run 24/7 and requires absolutely no
manual operation, no fueling, and no extension cords. The generator responds within seconds of power outages,
so inconveniences like heat or air conditioning loss and burst pipes or spoiled food are quickly avoided.
Initial setup is easy. The generator arrives with a flexible fuel line pigtail and a composite mounting pad.
(Transfer switch sold separately. Additional items and tools may be needed to complete the installation to meet

The unit can be programmed to perform a weekly exercise at the time of your choice, so it will be ready for
continuous and reliable operation on a moment's notice. For convenience, it also offers clear, digital controls,
an at-a-glance status indicator, and an external GFCI outlet to accommodate your outdoor power needs.
Powerful, Long-Lasting OHVI Engine
The Generac OHVI (Overhead Valve Industrial) engine is the only engine designed specifically for generator use.
Generators are often required to run for hours at a time, or even day after day. Engines adapted from other
applications can overheat and may have shorter lifespans. It offers advanced heat reduction technology such
as plateau-honed cylinders that lessen break-in time, plasma moly ring seals that help to keep excess oil out of
the cylinder, and graphite piston inserts that provide a smoother surface for the piston to move against--all
helping to contribute to a significantly longer engine life.
Maintenance costs are reduced with a spin-on automotive-style oil filter that's larger than a standard filter,
catching more particles so oil stays cleaner for a longer amount of time. Service intervals are up to twice as
long as competitive engines, approximately 2 years or 200 hours of operation.
