Experience with communicating
mitigation contributions
1. Communicating information on INDCs closely linked to
process of formulating INDC
2. Challenge to balance specificity and detail with need for
flexibility to update as implementation moves forward
given changing policy contexts
o Options for managing this, e.g. supplementary
technical information in annex
3. Decision 1/CP 20 was helpful in context of INDCs,
information was needed for INDC development; some
elements could be improved, new context post-Paris
Agreement

Developing guidance on information for
CTU
1. Information for CTU as a starting point for tracking
progress – need to maintain consistency through different
types of guidance (accounting, reporting etc.)
o Similar information categories, but specific type of
information provided would evolve over NDC cycle
2. CTU will need to capture information on features of NDCs
3. Need for detailed discussion on timing: which guidance is
applied when, relating to CTU, accounting, biennial
transparency reporting
