THEMATIC SESSION 1: Sharing views on new trends and approaches for the future of
development co-operation: development in transition and multi-stakeholder partnerships
- Room CC12
Through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework, countries called for
embracing long-term perspectives by committing to “implement the Agenda for the full
benefit of all, for today’s generation and for future generations”. This context calls for
more policy coherence for sustainable development (PCSD) and for new development
narratives, objectives, means and partnerships for development co-operation.
11:00 – 11:30 COFFEE BREAK AND FAMILY PHOTO
11:30 – 12:30
THEMATIC SESSION 2: Triangular Co-operation on the Road towards BAPA +40 –
Room CC12
Triangular co-operation complements South-South and North-South Co-operation by
providing adapted, innovative and flexible solutions to overcome today’s most pressing
environmental, economic and social challenges. The Second UN High-level Conference on
South-South Co-operation (BAPA +40) offers a unique opportunity to promote triangular
co-operation as a way to achieve the 2030 Agenda. Countries in Latin America and the
Caribbean (LAC) have longstanding experience with triangular co-operation and regularly
collaborate with DAC members in innovative projects in LAC and beyond. During this
session, representatives from LAC and DAC will discuss inputs on triangular co-operation
for BAPA +40, and its follow up, including those suggested by the Global Partnership
Initiative on Effective Triangular Co-operation (GPI).
The objective of this dialogue is to exchange knowledge and experience among the
OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) members and Latin American and
Caribbean (LAC) countries, to promote greater understanding and collaboration that shapes
the development co-operation architecture in light of the 2030 Agenda.
2. 12:30 – 13:30 LUNCH FOR HEADS OF DELEGATIONS (Room George Marshall) and Networking Lunch for
Delegates (Room Roger Ockrent)
13:30 – 15:00
THEMATIC SESSION 3: Financing for Sustainable Development – scaling up resources
for better results – Room CC12
Financing for sustainable development is a fast-changing ecosystem that includes more
actors, instruments and modalities, and more interactions among those. While diversity
brings more opportunities, it also creates complexity. Topics for discussion in this session
range from measuring development finance and ensure alignment with the SDGs,
engaging with the private sector, identifying the best instruments at different stages of
transition, to blended finance, impact investment, and others.
15:00 – 15:15 COFFEE BREAK
15:15 – 16:45 THEMATIC SESSION 4: The role of development co-operation in addressing migration
challenges – Room CC12
Migration is a global trend that affects Latin America and the Caribbean and members
of the DAC. Crises in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, to name some, lead
to an influx of refugees to neighbouring LAC countries and Europe. Participants will be
sharing experiences on how development cooperation can help addressing this new
reality.
