MedPath is a Domain Specific Language (DSL) for modeling care pathways based on the paradigms of Model-Based Engineering (MBE) that can be integrated into software solutions.

MedPath's abstract syntax has been defined with the Eclipse Modeling Framework by employing Ecore technology and concrete syntax with the Eclipse Sirius.

We have modeled over 85 care pathways that are in use in 45 hospitals in Brazil. MedPath-originated pathways have been used over 3.2 million times since October 2017. We conducted a survey among the professionals who used MedPath to evaluate user satisfaction.

  20. 20. How Sirius is being used Expert doctors acquainted with the process - They still leave details as comments - Tend to be very busy Process Engineers (Production Engineers) - Talk to the doctors, model and then validate 22
  21. 21. Feedback, review and prospects Sirius proved itself a nice fit for rapid construction and evolution of our DSL Having the care pathways as a "document" allowed us to version, verify and correctly share it throughout the process (model as first-class citizen) 23
  22. 22. Feedback, review and prospects We started the project in 2017, we believe now we can explore the Web capabilities of it Interpretation, instead of compilation, allowed us to easily integrate to existing legacy systems Data storage and load was challenging 24
