It is not only important to look at how much steeper this graph gets over the next decades, it’s also important to note that the first half of the graph is shown in 20 year increments, but the second half is in 10 year increments. One reason for the sharp increase between 1940 – 1960 = penicillin – no more “young old” death.
This is a relatively new way of stating our mission. Our organization has been around for well over 100 years – since 1893. More and more we recognize the importance of serving our caregivers as well as the elderly. Caregivers include not only paid staff, but also informal caregivers such as family, friends, and neighbors.
We serve people throughout Michigan primarily on the eastern half of the lower penninsula. Approximately ½ of the people we serve are served by our home care agency based in Frankenmuth. That reach extends to a 50 mile radius around Frankenmuth.
