2. What is Focus on Forestry First Ltd?
• Not for Profit Social Enterprise Company established in
2016.
• Developed out of WG/EU funded project managed by
mwmac Ltd 2010 - 2015.
• The company remit is to support firms within the Welsh
Trees & Timber sector to access skills, plan staff
development & increase qualification levels of operators.
• Any income generated by ‘fees’ will be reinvested into the
project.
3. Introducing our new project
Forestry Focused Future has been created to provide support and promote
business development and sustainability in the trees and timber sector.
The project will concentrate on fostering knowledge transfer and innovation
through skills and learning, leading to increased competitiveness and
sustainability. The aim is to enable the trees and timber businesses of Wales to
thrive and look forward to a more secure future
This project will focus on six key branches:

Training Needs Planning & Information Hub Skills Development
Mentoring Professional Pathways Innovative TrainingKnowledge Transfer
4. Am I Eligible?
If you fit into all of the following… Yes!
Must be Working in the Trees and Timber Sector
Business must be involved in the Trees and Timber sector.
This can be up to first cut in the sawmill.
Must be a Business or Self-employed Person
You must provide proof upon registration with the following:
• if Employer - Company Registration Number and HMRC PAYE Reference.
• if Self-Employed - Unique Tax Reference.
If you are an employee, your employer must register with the project & provide details on your behalf.
Must be Based in Wales
5. What will it cost for me to register?
Self-Employed Person - £75+ VAT
Business with Employees - £125+ VAT
There is no limit to the amount of employees
registering within a business as long as they are PAYE.
Registration is charged annually.

7. What is Knowledge Transfer?
Knowledge Transfer refers to sharing or disseminating knowledge and
providing inputs to problem solving. In organisational theory, knowledge
transfer is the practical problem of transferring knowledge from one
part of an organisation to another... It is considered to be more than just
a communication problem.

A small Booking Fee per person / business will be
required to secure your space on these events.

9. What is Skills Development?
• A course must have a recognised outcome or qualification.
• Courses are 75% Funded, you pay 25%+VAT deposit to FFF.
• Stand alone assessments will not automatically be funded;
(assessments are funded when included with training).
• Registered Beneficiaries will identify Training Needs using a two
part form outlining your Business Development & the Training
Wishlist.
• This Training Needs Plan is used by FFF to create your company’s
Training Agreement for your first year of registration.
10. Mentoring
Mentoring is most often defined as a professional relationship in which
an experienced person (the mentor) supports and encourages people to
develop specific skills and knowledge that will maximise their
business potential and improve their performance. In short, it is the
transfer of knowledge, skills and experience.
FFF Ltd plan to deliver mentor training at work for businesses who have
identified specific in-house needs. This will maximise efficiency whilst
developing skills within your business.
Mentoring Funding is secured by a one
off Arrangement Fee.
11. Professional Pathways
Professional Pathways provides a supported route for operators within
the sector to identify & achieve higher level qualifications (level 3 and
above diplomas etc).
FFF will help beneficiaries compile their evidence towards these higher
level qualifications using certificates already achieved & drawing from
ongoing work activities.
This creates a balance between academic skills & work-readiness skills.
Professional Pathways Funding is
secured by a one off Management Fee.
12. Innovative Training Solutions
Innovative Training Solutions identifies gaps in the current training available
and works with industry experts to create training courses & materials to fill
these gaps.
FFF plan to prepare and deliver high quality & current training content that is
directly relevant to the workplace and respected by employers.
All training solutions created will be made available online on the FFF
Information Hub.
FFF Plan to launch Mentoring, Professional Pathways & Innovative
Training Solutions within the first 6 months of the programme.
