Skills shortages are seen as one of the most significant issues affecting housing affordability in Australia. This affects nearly all trades and industry areas and employers need to be encouraged to invest in the training of young people. Young people also need to become more aware of the great opportunities and rewarding career within the building industry.
Omesh Jethwani, NSW State Manager Apprenticeship Mentoring who has in-depth experience and knowledge of the Building industry and working with apprentices discusses the advantages of employing part-time school based apprentices and trainees.
