TAVOR - Academy for Social Leadership
“Very seldom in the history of our
nation has so much been in the
hands of a single generation.
It is in our hands to relinquish our
generations legacy or to enrich it.”
Abraham Joshua Heshel
In Israel we are currently facing a great challenge. The Zionist identity of our people
in general and our future leaders in particular has become weak, directionless, and
unable to sustain Israel’s core essence; its soul. A silent majority and its leaders
have grown less and less interested in the Israeli society as a whole, its history,
morality and its Jewish spirit. we have decided to actively change the direction we
are heading in.
We strongly believe that there is a need to continue what Ben-Gurion had begun
but was unable to complete. A vision of an outstanding Jewish society linked to
its own Jewish heritage, collective history and spirit. One which looks forward to a
positive fulfilment of its own future based on liberal and democratic grounds, as a
people in their land.
For this reason we have created our organization. We are focusing on the elite
secular youth of the Israeli society that have a great potential to become tomorrow’s
leaders. By guiding, teaching and leading them for a long period of time we believe
that they will ignite their Zionist ember and will lead the Jewish state once again.
The organization was established in 2010 as a pre-army academy in Upper Nazareth,
since then it has grown and developed into so much more, now including a range
of educational programs.

Influencing deep social processes in the Israeli society
through shaping the future secular leadership. This will
be achieved by:
• Reinforcing the notion of Israel as the democratic state
of the Jewish nation.
• Taking an active role in the development of Israel as the
spiritual and cultural center of the Jewish nation.
• “limud” in order to do and act, in the here and now.
• Educating with “Ahavat Hinam”, which means to be
with free or undemanding love.
Vision
Mission
Cultivating a new generation of Zionist leaders who
are driven by a sense of vocation for Israel’s future,
based on a meaningful Jewish identity, intellectual
depth and moral courage.

“Zionism is our return to Judaism
even before we return to the
land of the Jews.”
Herzl’s speech at the First Zionist
Congress in Basel 1897
“We want to create an
independent life with its unique
portrait and character. For, the
creation of true and original
forms of life with a national
image and expression, it is most
necessary to take the matter
which these creations will
comprise, from the fundamental
elements of ancient life forms.”
Hayim Nahman Bialik
“These expressions (of heroism)
begin and end with spirit. The
achievements of our fighters
not in iron rutted, but in their
notion of higher mission, in their
knowledge of the righteousness
of our path, in the deep love to
our nation and in the realization
of the difficulty of their task – to
ensure the existence of a nation
in its home land, to maintain,
even at the price of their own
lives, the Israeli nation’s right to
live its life on its land.”

The Star of David represented here mirrors our philosophy and it
serves as the moral and spiritual compass of the organisation.
It represents what we seek to develop and nurture in our participants
on their way to becoming tomorrow’s leaders. In every educational
program we create, our core values and the star is present.
Our Core Values
7 TAVOR | 2014
Past and Future
While we feel that some parts of the Israeli society
(such as the ultra-orthodox) have taken over the
‘past’ of Judaism in many aspects such as religion and
culture. The other aspects, mostly the secular ones, took
over the ‘future’ e.g., education, technology. Each
group took either the future or the past but neglected
almost entirely the other one. As Ahad Ha’am pointed
out, a nation cannot exist without its link to the past,
however it cannot flourish without its ‘sense of will’; its
future. ‘The being of a nation’ says Ahad ha’am ‘based
and grounded in the past’ and ‘its edge is as far as its
future goes’.
Social Activism & Liberal Arts
We promote two other components that have to be apart
of our leaders; Knowing and doing. General knowledge
and wisdom (liberal arts) such as western thought of
philosophy, economy, liberalism are crucial. However, we
believe it is not enough just to know, and therefore most
of our programs have focus on being socially active as well.
In other words to choose to go back to Plato’s cave and to
help others who are in need.
Jewish Spirit & The Love for the
Land of Israel
The head of the star is marked by the spirit: the ‘legs’
represent the love for the land. We teach our students
that these components are inseparable. On the one hand,
developing a Jewish spirit which consists of deep knowledge
and love to our culture, people, morals, norms and wisdom,
and on the other hand, nurturing their love of the land.
We hike, we tour, and we sleep on the ground of our Fathers,
breathing the same air our forefathers did. We believe that
only by combining the two, can a person integrate his Jewish-
Israeli identity and feel whole once again.
“a Jewish state
and not merely
a state of Jews”
“man is the
reflection of
his homeland’s
scenery”

The Pyramid on the next page comprehensively outlines
the various programs the organization wishes to
develop in light of our vision. The first program
(Keshet) developed is aimed at the ages of 16-18.
The Keshet program has a total of 80-100 participants
(40-50 each grade 11th and 12th) and is running since Nov’ 13.
Following these programs, our hope is that most participants
(ages 18-19, 40 participants) will continue to Tavor’s Mechina
(which has already been running for 4 years) and/or to the other
branch (that might open in 2015 and includes an additional
40 participants).
Following the army service about 60 participants (each year)
will join the ‘Israeli path’ program (end of 2014, 3 cycles of
20 participants). Our goal is that after the ‘Israeli path’ the
participantswilljointhestudentprogram.Finally,weareforming

Through these programs we aim to (about 12 years) influence
Israeli society in the long-term with different degrees of
intensity. Moreover, we are putting a lot of effort into building
a network and ‘family’ oriented structure to maintain a healthy
and strong connection between the different programs and
between the graduates of the Mechina.

Background:
The Keshet program is unique by being the only one
managed by a “mechina” (TAVOR). Above all, its goal is
to bolster an elite youth group. One which shall excel and
hold a substantial leadership potential.
Keshet program (11th and 12th grade) – a two year
pre-mechina based on long-weekend seminars for 40-
80 participants each year. Keshet is designed to ignite
and inspire a hunger for knowledge, social activism and
quest for identity among the youth and to revive their
Zionist spark. By doing so we will be able to deepen
the educational impact of the mechina and to create
a three year educational process. The program was
launched on the 28th of November 2013.Its goal is to
instil a foundation of essential Jewish-Zionist knowledge
and education alongside developing leadership skills.
Keshet program
Rationale:
Recruitment of an elite youth group through high demands
and a thorough screening and sorting stage. At first,
40-80 teenagers (boys and girls) from each age group.
These groups are trained at bi-monthly seminars which are
held on weekends (Thursday to Saturday). The seminar is
mixed with physical and mental activities such as hiking,
touring, navigating, rappelling, studying and learning with
professionals of different fields.

The Tavor Academy was established in 2010 in the Galilee
city of Upper Nazareth at the initiative of the municipality
and several young social activists. It was formed to achieve
two main goals: 1) development of Jewish-Zionist identity
among secular youth in Israel as a mechanism for generating
a feeling of mission among this sector; and 2) strengthening
the social fabric of Upper Nazareth.
The “mechina” year provides a rich and robust educational
path, which, we belive should be continued by a multiyear
one. As Yitzhak Sade once said: “as the width of the base,
so is the height if the summit.”
The Tavor Midrasha selects 45 students out of 500 annually.
Its graduates integrate into the I.D.F. fighting units and other
core positions. The majority take the route of commanding
service.
The Character of the Academy
The academy combines an engrossing learning experience
with intensive volunteering experience in the city and
thorough preparation for meaningful service in the IDF.
The curriculum includes a wide variety of subjects, with an
emphasis on Zionism, Judaism, and Israeli society in all its
diversity.
Each week academy participants volunteer in over ten social
action programs run by the academy involving hundreds
of children and teenagers in the city: youth movements,
clubhouses for at-risk children and teenagers, leadership
programs, army preparation, and more. All of the projects
are conducted under the guidance of professionals; the
academy’s social involvement coordinator oversees all of
the activities.
In order to generate maximum impact, the academy makes a
concerted effort to find candidates with leadership potential.
Our point of departure is that deep-seated influence on a
small elite group with high leadership potential will lead
to an exponential increase in that influence in the future.
The high quality of participants is also the key to the success
of the various social action programs in Upper Nazareth.
In July 2012, the Avi-Chai Fund, which finances dozens
of pre-army academies in Israel, published a survey that
examined various parameters in the education programs
offered at the academies. Over 1,000 academy attendees
participated in the survey, and the findings shed light on the
atmosphere at the Tavor Academy, as follows:

Three central values
instruct the academy’s activities
High standards in all aspects of activities, the importance of attention to
detail, and professional behaviour.
The basis for effective leadership stimulates inspiration and is the trait that
makes possible the ability to consider every obstacle a challenge.
The mechanism that moves all of the cogs in the wheel, the desire to do
good for both the people of Israel and the State of Israel.

Curriculum Structure
The academy curriculum is built around three main content areas: identification, society and
the nation, and expanding horizons.
The schedule of week-long courses in the academy revolve around the three content areas mentioned above, with each week
devoted to one sub-topic related to one of the main content areas. These short courses involve study trips, outside lectures,
peer-taught lessons, documentary films, discussions, debates, and staff lessons.
Concurrently, the regular courses basic to the curriculum continue throughout the year: history of the State of Israel, Judaism,
Zionism, leadership, and preparation for command positions in the IDF. The continuity is interrupted every six weeks for a field
training period or an extended field trip in some part of the country.

The program’s educational goals:
1. Strengthening the Jewish-Zionist identity and values as
a stable source for leadership and social involvement.
2. Development of leadership skills and social initiative
through practical experience.
3. Professional and mental preparation for integration into
IDF’s commanding positions.
Identity, sense of belonging, knowing that we are all part of
a long chain; these are all conditions for the existence of a
social conscience, which is necessary for the existence of a
state, any state but especially the state of Israel. Philosopher
Ernest Renan wrote: “The existence of a nation is a daily
plebiscite”. Our goal is to ensure that the young generation
will tie its life with the story of the Jewish people and the
state of Israel.
The program’s social activity goals:
1. Developing young local leaders through the
establishment of quality voluntary work.
2. Encouragement of youth enlistment into the IDF
for a service that will be meaningful.
3. Strengthening values and educational weak points
in the city.
In the Tavor Mechina, social involvement is the pillar of our
enterprise; our goal is to strengthen the city’s social integrity.
Throughout various social projects that are run by our
pupils, in which there are approximately 300 children and
teenagers. In Upper Nazareth there are 50,000 residents
and it is a geographical and social periphery. The mixture
of the socio-economic weak population requires a unique
social effort to ensure the city’s development continues.
Although we are unable to build a high-tech park, we are
able to revolutionize the city socially and educationally.

Rationale
This program consists of 20 participants each cycle (3 cycles
each year, 60 participants in total) after their army service.
A Minimum of 5 Tavor graduates in each group join the
Mechina as interns for a month. In this month they will plan
3 month educational hikes through Israel, while meeting
different people from the Israeli society and studying the
country’s problems by foot. This unique program is a type
of post army mini mechina which takes place through
mobility. Happens in movement. The students live, learn
and study throughout, while walking Israel’s landscapes.
We think that there is no better way to deeply understand
our nation’s challenges than by visiting them by foot with
an open heart.
Program objectives
• Enhancing the connection to the country and the people
by walking through the paths.
• A thorough acquaintance with those who walked these
paths and with those who are designing the future ones.
• Knowledge of the present Israel- challenges and the
persons leading change.
• Enhancement and refreshment of the Tavor values after
the army period.
• Reinforcing Efficacy and Creativity by planning a

Rationale
The project is the joint initiative of the Tavor “mechina” and
the Defense-Social department at the Ministry of Defense.
The objective is to grant the immigrants who chose to
make “Aliya” and recruit to the I.D.F., a short, three week
mechina in preparation for their military service. It is out of
pure logic that if a Sabre, native Israeli would benefit from
a course, the immigrant would undoubtedly do so as well.
The program is abundant in diverse activities such as
navigations, battle heritage stories, classes, extreme
excursions and more.
Program objectives
• Gratitude- to the “Olim” for their choice to tie their
destiny with that of the Israeli state and the I.D.F.
• Friends- creating an initial circle of Israeli friends through
the graduates of the mechina.
• Strengthening the “WHY?”- strengthening the Jewish-
Zionist identity of the immigrants.
• Softening the blow of induction to the I.D.F.

with the academic year. The program will deal with
philosophical, historical, national and current issues and the
connection between all of them.
The participants of the program will receive a scholarship.
Program objectives
1. Deepening knowledge required for leadership in Israel,
for example:
• History of the Jewish people and of the state of Israel
• The different identities within Israel
• Israel today – familiarizing with the social and political
issues in Israel
2. Formalizing an opinion on the current affairs in Israel
3. Strengthening and helping to crystalize the Israeli and
Jewish identity of the participants
4. Creating a social network of outstanding people as
agents of change
5. Putting theory into practice
6. Learning how to lead within the student framework
7. Developing and leading a social initiative (as the last

NYC for political leadership. During and after his army service Eran initiated and participated in various volunteer
programs related to Israel’s many challenges. This naturally led him to become part of Tavor and its vision. He
believes that putting effort in education is vital for the creation of a better and more just Israeli society. Only
through that, he believes, the Zionist idea will flourish once again.

Led by a strong moral motivation and by our Israeli-Jewish spirit and
values we believe that the course of our state-ship can be redirected
to safety once again. By focusing on long term education, on the few
that have the greatest potential to lead our society we will reignite
the Zionist spark once again. By that, we will become what we were
destined to be. An outstanding society which serves an example to all
nations, thanks to its moral, culture and values.

  • 1. ‫הרבה‬ ‫ועשה‬ ‫מעט‬ ‫אמור‬ TAVOR - Academy for Social Leadership
  • 2. “Very seldom in the history of our nation has so much been in the hands of a single generation. It is in our hands to relinquish our generations legacy or to enrich it.” Abraham Joshua Heshel
  • 3. In Israel we are currently facing a great challenge. The Zionist identity of our people in general and our future leaders in particular has become weak, directionless, and unable to sustain Israel’s core essence; its soul. A silent majority and its leaders have grown less and less interested in the Israeli society as a whole, its history, morality and its Jewish spirit. we have decided to actively change the direction we are heading in. We strongly believe that there is a need to continue what Ben-Gurion had begun but was unable to complete. A vision of an outstanding Jewish society linked to its own Jewish heritage, collective history and spirit. One which looks forward to a positive fulfilment of its own future based on liberal and democratic grounds, as a people in their land. For this reason we have created our organization. We are focusing on the elite secular youth of the Israeli society that have a great potential to become tomorrow’s leaders. By guiding, teaching and leading them for a long period of time we believe that they will ignite their Zionist ember and will lead the Jewish state once again. The organization was established in 2010 as a pre-army academy in Upper Nazareth, since then it has grown and developed into so much more, now including a range of educational programs. ‫הרבה‬ ‫ועשה‬ ‫מעט‬ ‫אמור‬
  • 4. 4 ‫הרבה‬ ‫ועשה‬ ‫מעט‬ ‫אמור‬ Influencing deep social processes in the Israeli society through shaping the future secular leadership. This will be achieved by: • Reinforcing the notion of Israel as the democratic state of the Jewish nation. • Taking an active role in the development of Israel as the spiritual and cultural center of the Jewish nation. • “limud” in order to do and act, in the here and now. • Educating with “Ahavat Hinam”, which means to be with free or undemanding love. Vision Mission Cultivating a new generation of Zionist leaders who are driven by a sense of vocation for Israel’s future, based on a meaningful Jewish identity, intellectual depth and moral courage.
  • 5. 5 TAVOR | 2014 “Zionism is our return to Judaism even before we return to the land of the Jews.” Herzl’s speech at the First Zionist Congress in Basel 1897 “We want to create an independent life with its unique portrait and character. For, the creation of true and original forms of life with a national image and expression, it is most necessary to take the matter which these creations will comprise, from the fundamental elements of ancient life forms.” Hayim Nahman Bialik “These expressions (of heroism) begin and end with spirit. The achievements of our fighters not in iron rutted, but in their notion of higher mission, in their knowledge of the righteousness of our path, in the deep love to our nation and in the realization of the difficulty of their task – to ensure the existence of a nation in its home land, to maintain, even at the price of their own lives, the Israeli nation’s right to live its life on its land.” Yitzhak Rabin’s speech at the end of the 1967 war
  • 6. 6 ‫הרבה‬ ‫ועשה‬ ‫מעט‬ ‫אמור‬ Jewish Spirit Past Social Activism Liberal Arts Future Love for the Land of Israel Leader The Star of David represented here mirrors our philosophy and it serves as the moral and spiritual compass of the organisation. It represents what we seek to develop and nurture in our participants on their way to becoming tomorrow’s leaders. In every educational program we create, our core values and the star is present. Our Core Values
  • 7. 7 TAVOR | 2014 Past and Future While we feel that some parts of the Israeli society (such as the ultra-orthodox) have taken over the ‘past’ of Judaism in many aspects such as religion and culture. The other aspects, mostly the secular ones, took over the ‘future’ e.g., education, technology. Each group took either the future or the past but neglected almost entirely the other one. As Ahad Ha’am pointed out, a nation cannot exist without its link to the past, however it cannot flourish without its ‘sense of will’; its future. ‘The being of a nation’ says Ahad ha’am ‘based and grounded in the past’ and ‘its edge is as far as its future goes’. Social Activism & Liberal Arts We promote two other components that have to be apart of our leaders; Knowing and doing. General knowledge and wisdom (liberal arts) such as western thought of philosophy, economy, liberalism are crucial. However, we believe it is not enough just to know, and therefore most of our programs have focus on being socially active as well. In other words to choose to go back to Plato’s cave and to help others who are in need. Jewish Spirit & The Love for the Land of Israel The head of the star is marked by the spirit: the ‘legs’ represent the love for the land. We teach our students that these components are inseparable. On the one hand, developing a Jewish spirit which consists of deep knowledge and love to our culture, people, morals, norms and wisdom, and on the other hand, nurturing their love of the land. We hike, we tour, and we sleep on the ground of our Fathers, breathing the same air our forefathers did. We believe that only by combining the two, can a person integrate his Jewish- Israeli identity and feel whole once again. “a Jewish state and not merely a state of Jews” “man is the reflection of his homeland’s scenery” Ahad Ha’am
  • 8. 8 ‫הרבה‬ ‫ועשה‬ ‫מעט‬ ‫אמור‬ The Pyramid on the next page comprehensively outlines the various programs the organization wishes to develop in light of our vision. The first program (Keshet) developed is aimed at the ages of 16-18. The Keshet program has a total of 80-100 participants (40-50 each grade 11th and 12th) and is running since Nov’ 13. Following these programs, our hope is that most participants (ages 18-19, 40 participants) will continue to Tavor’s Mechina (which has already been running for 4 years) and/or to the other branch (that might open in 2015 and includes an additional 40 participants). Following the army service about 60 participants (each year) will join the ‘Israeli path’ program (end of 2014, 3 cycles of 20 participants). Our goal is that after the ‘Israeli path’ the participantswilljointhestudentprogram. Finally, weareforming agraduateadultprogramforourparticipantswhichwillconsistof ourgraduatesandotheryoungleadersfromothersocialsectors. Through these programs we aim to (about 12 years) influence Israeli society in the long-term with different degrees of intensity. Moreover, we are putting a lot of effort into building a network and ‘family’ oriented structure to maintain a healthy and strong connection between the different programs and between the graduates of the Mechina. • 10. 10 ‫הרבה‬ ‫ועשה‬ ‫מעט‬ ‫אמור‬ Background: The Keshet program is unique by being the only one managed by a “mechina” (TAVOR). Above all, its goal is to bolster an elite youth group. One which shall excel and hold a substantial leadership potential. Keshet program (11th and 12th grade) – a two year pre-mechina based on long-weekend seminars for 40- 80 participants each year. Keshet is designed to ignite and inspire a hunger for knowledge, social activism and quest for identity among the youth and to revive their Zionist spark. By doing so we will be able to deepen the educational impact of the mechina and to create a three year educational process. The program was launched on the 28th of November 2013.Its goal is to instil a foundation of essential Jewish-Zionist knowledge and education alongside developing leadership skills. Keshet program Rationale: Recruitment of an elite youth group through high demands and a thorough screening and sorting stage. At first, 40-80 teenagers (boys and girls) from each age group. These groups are trained at bi-monthly seminars which are held on weekends (Thursday to Saturday). • 14. 14 ‫הרבה‬ ‫ועשה‬ ‫מעט‬ ‫אמור‬ ‫הרבה‬ ‫ועשה‬ ‫מעט‬ ‫אמור‬ The Tavor Academy was established in 2010 in the Galilee city of Upper Nazareth at the initiative of the municipality and several young social activists. It was formed to achieve two main goals: 1) development of Jewish-Zionist identity among secular youth in Israel as a mechanism for generating a feeling of mission among this sector; and 2) strengthening the social fabric of Upper Nazareth. The “mechina” year provides a rich and robust educational path, which, we belive should be continued by a multiyear one. As Yitzhak Sade once said: “as the width of the base, so is the height if the summit.” The Tavor Midrasha selects 45 students out of 500 annually. Its graduates integrate into the I.D.F. fighting units and other core positions. The majority take the route of commanding service. The Character of the Academy The academy combines an engrossing learning experience with intensive volunteering experience in the city and thorough preparation for meaningful service in the IDF. The curriculum includes a wide variety of subjects, with an emphasis on Zionism, Judaism, and Israeli society in all its diversity. Each week academy participants volunteer in over ten social action programs run by the academy involving hundreds of children and teenagers in the city: youth movements, clubhouses for at-risk children and teenagers, leadership programs, army preparation, and more. All of the projects are conducted under the guidance of professionals; the academy’s social involvement coordinator oversees all of the activities. In order to generate maximum impact, the academy makes a concerted effort to find candidates with leadership potential. Our point of departure is that deep-seated influence on a small elite group with high leadership potential will lead to an exponential increase in that influence in the future. The high quality of participants is also the key to the success of the various social action programs in Upper Nazareth. In July 2012, the Avi-Chai Fund, which finances dozens of pre-army academies in Israel, published a survey that examined various parameters in the education programs offered at the academies. Over 1,000 academy attendees participated in the survey, and the findings shed light on the atmosphere at the Tavor Academy, as follows: Sphere of Contribution Tavor Academy All academies Preparation for military service 100% 72% Motivation for meaningful military service 97% 87% Motivation to take part in community action 94% 83% Participants intending to join the officer trajectory Tavor Academy All academies Number of participants (both male and female) planning to join the officers corps 100% 83% Mechinat tavor 1-2 2-4M NIS Active18-19 45-90 10 Months
  • 15. TAVOR | 201415 Excellence Happiness Love of Israel Three central values instruct the academy’s activities High standards in all aspects of activities, the importance of attention to detail, and professional behaviour. The basis for effective leadership stimulates inspiration and is the trait that makes possible the ability to consider every obstacle a challenge. The mechanism that moves all of the cogs in the wheel, the desire to do good for both the people of Israel and the State of Israel.
  • 16. 16 ‫הרבה‬ ‫ועשה‬ ‫מעט‬ ‫אמור‬ Curriculum Structure The academy curriculum is built around three main content areas: identification, society and the nation, and expanding horizons. The schedule of week-long courses in the academy revolve around the three content areas mentioned above, with each week devoted to one sub-topic related to one of the main content areas. These short courses involve study trips, outside lectures, peer-taught lessons, documentary films, discussions, debates, and staff lessons. Concurrently, the regular courses basic to the curriculum continue throughout the year: history of the State of Israel, Judaism, Zionism, leadership, and preparation for command positions in the IDF. The continuity is interrupted every six weeks for a field training period or an extended field trip in some part of the country.

Development of leadership skills and social initiative through practical experience. 3. Professional and mental preparation for integration into IDF’s commanding positions. Identity, sense of belonging, knowing that we are all part of a long chain; these are all conditions for the existence of a social conscience, which is necessary for the existence of a state, any state but especially the state of Israel. Philosopher Ernest Renan wrote: “The existence of a nation is a daily plebiscite”. Our goal is to ensure that the young generation will tie its life with the story of the Jewish people and the state of Israel. The program’s social activity goals: 1. Developing young local leaders through the establishment of quality voluntary work. 2. Encouragement of youth enlistment into the IDF for a service that will be meaningful. 3. Strengthening values and educational weak points in the city. In the Tavor Mechina, social involvement is the pillar of our enterprise; our goal is to strengthen the city’s social integrity. Throughout various social projects that are run by our pupils, in which there are approximately 300 children and teenagers. In Upper Nazareth there are 50,000 residents and it is a geographical and social periphery. The mixture of the socio-economic weak population requires a unique social effort to ensure the city’s development continues. Although we are unable to build a high-tech park, we are able to revolutionize the city socially and educationally. • 19. TAVOR | 201419 Rationale This program consists of 20 participants each cycle (3 cycles each year, 60 participants in total) after their army service. A Minimum of 5 Tavor graduates in each group join the Mechina as interns for a month. In this month they will plan 3 month educational hikes through Israel, while meeting different people from the Israeli society and studying the country’s problems by foot. This unique program is a type of post army mini mechina which takes place through mobility. Happens in movement. The students live, learn and study throughout, while walking Israel’s landscapes. We think that there is no better way to deeply understand our nation’s challenges than by visiting them by foot with an open heart. Program objectives • Enhancing the connection to the country and the people by walking through the paths. • A thorough acquaintance with those who walked these paths and with those who are designing the future ones. • Knowledge of the present Israel- challenges and the persons leading change. • Enhancement and refreshment of the Tavor values after the army period. • Reinforcing Efficacy and Creativity by planning a designing the program. tHE ISRAELi PATH 20-25 60 3-4 Months 3-4 100k NIS Not Active
  • 20. 20 ‫הרבה‬ ‫ועשה‬ ‫מעט‬ ‫אמור‬ Rationale The project is the joint initiative of the Tavor “mechina” and the Defense-Social department at the Ministry of Defense. The objective is to grant the immigrants who chose to make “Aliya” and recruit to the I.D.F., a short, three week mechina in preparation for their military service. It is out of pure logic that if a Sabre, native Israeli would benefit from a course, the immigrant would undoubtedly do so as well. The program is abundant in diverse activities such as navigations, battle heritage stories, classes, extreme excursions and more. Program objectives • Gratitude- to the “Olim” for their choice to tie their destiny with that of the Israeli state and the I.D.F. • Friends- creating an initial circle of Israeli friends through the graduates of the mechina. • Strengthening the “WHY?”- strengthening the Jewish- Zionist identity of the immigrants. • Softening the blow of induction to the I.D.F.
