WRITING REFERENCES
All information found in the e-Book and the e-Guide must be referenced to a source. This is a
guide how to write references intended for reference lists formatted according to the e-Book
and the e-Guide.
When writing a document, put the author inside parentheses. If you refer to one sentences,
the dot comes inside the parentheses. If you refer to two or more sentences, the dot comes
outside the parentheses.
This is how you wrote books to references
with one author Include (if available): author’s last name and first names letter; year of
publication; title; edition; place of publication and publisher.
 Example: Baldwin, C.J. 2015. The 10 principles of food industry sustainability. WILEY
Blackwell. West Sussex. UK.
 Example: (Baldwin, 2015, and the page number)
with two or more authors
 Example: Roininen, T., Pulkkinen, H., Järvinen, M., Nikula, J., Höynälänmaa, S., Katajajuuri, J.
M. & Hyvärinen, H. 2014. Ilmastovalinta ravintoloissa. Ilmastolounas-hankeen loppuraportti.
Jokioinen.
 Example: (Roininen at. all., 2014, and the page number)
The e-Books or PDF documents you should have a same information as for printed
books. And if you use internet links remember to add an address and the date when you have
read the link.
 Example: Chandler, C., Franklin, A., Ochoa, A. & Clement, S. 2015. Sustainable public
