This document provides an overview and syllabus for a course on innovation management taught by Prof. Dr. Bernhard Katzy. The course aims to cover basic innovation concepts, innovation theory, transformation and entrepreneurship. It will examine the organization of innovation, innovation governance and systems. Grading will be based on class participation and a final paper. The next session will cover basic innovation concepts and assigned readings are from the book "Managing Strategic Innovation and Change" which provides background on architectural innovation and standards wars.

(RWTH) Aachen in Germany and a second Ph.D. (habilitation) in
general management and technology management from
University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
- Professor @ University BW Munich (DE) and Leiden University
(NL); and director of CeTIM Center for Technology and Innovation
Management.
- Research interest is about entrepreneurial management of fast
growing high-tech firms and the management of strategic change
in the transition to the information age

7. Grading
– Class Participation (50%)
Result of quick tests at the beginning of each class(30%). Your
active participation in the discussion in class (20%) is integral to
the design of this course
– Final paper (50%)
The final paper is to be written solo, in response to the topics offer
in class. You are invited to propose your own topic to the
instructor. It is due on April 26, 2012 and should be 10 pages in
length (Format: , Font size 12pt, 1.5 line spacing).
