Oslo Innovation Week highlights solutions that solve real
global challenges through entrepreneurship, technology
and innovation. Oslo Innovation Week brings forward new
voices and innovation in action. We believe in not only
talking about change, but actually change the world we live
in. We gather people with the business solutions to achieve
the Sustainable Development Goals.
Since 2005, Oslo Innovation Week has brought together
entrepreneurs, leaders, investors, innovation drivers,
technology experts and creatives in the city of Oslo. This
year, 13300 people joined us and 31% of them were
international delegates.
Oslo Innovation Week is a collaboration between public and
private, startup organizations and corporates, Norwegian and
international companies. The 2019 chapter was created by 153
partners and event organizers.

Key learnings
• Facilitate for better matchmaking between international
and local stakeholders BEFORE, during and after Oslo
Innovation Week.
• Build on the momentum of Oslo European Green Capital.
• Continue facilitating for international press with
excellent hospitality.
• Consider a different concept for «after work»/informal
meeting places.
• Consider organizing for Oslo Innovation Week satelite
events throughout the year.
• Set up a plan for making Oslo Innovation Week 100%
sustainable/green.
• More data on delegates to be able to create better
arenas.
• Onboard a broader group of people at the city of Oslo
and Innovation Norway
Together with our partners, Oslo Innovation Week has
reached and breached many goals during the last 15 years.
The Oslo Innovation Week family has gotten bigger and
stronger. Now including a broader mix of event organizers like
tech companies, corporates, incubators, organizations and the
public sector.
The number of international attendees have increased from
19% in 2015 to 31% in 2019. We’ve maintained our ambition of
having 50% female speakers on stage. We have introduced
new concepts such as Powercouples. We have positioned
Oslo Innovation Week amongst the big, global players like
Web Summit and Slush - hitting Forbes list of events you must
go to in 2018.
All these success stories is the result of pioneering event
organizers, owners and attendees who have joined year after
year, tested new concepts (oh and some have failed too), and
contributed.
The way forward
The competition between events, cities and nations is
fierce. Oslo Innovation Week is doing well - so it’s time to
shake things up! To be a frontrunner and deliever value to
our stakeholders, we must always strive to be better.
In coming weeks, Oslo Business Region will work
on the strategy and the new way forward for Oslo
Innovation Week. You’ll be invited too.
Maybe we’ll end up right were we’re at now, or
maybe we’ll discover new possibilities, partners
and connections. We don’t know yet!
What we do know is that we’ll continue to support our
attendees, event organizers, owners and future
stakeholders.
In the meanwhile, save the date for Oslo Innovation Week
2020, 21-25 September.

Oslo Innovation Week 2019
In June 2019, we launched a new website, designed by BEKK,
based on the visual profile created by Metric Design.
The result was a pioneering and modern design, that still funtions
as a source of information, engagement and an effortless way to
register for events.
After the launch, the website was featured on Bēhance, a
renowned website that showcases creative work.

Digital media reach is social media
reach combined with the reach of
digital press articles.
There was a 71% decrease in digital reach from 2018, and a 75% in articles published.
The decrease in both articles published and digital media reach is not due to lack of priority or quality of
work. In 2018, we had a large increase in exposure due to former President, Barack Obama, visiting Oslo
Business Forum as a speaker. Thus, it would be unrealistic for us to reach the same numbers in 2019.
However, both articles published and the digital media reach is almost doubled when compared to 2017.

Oslo Innovation Award 2019:
Too Good To Go
The award aims to highlight purpose driven companies
leveraging technology and venture capital to create scalable
and sustainable businesses.
Too Good To Go tackles the issue of food waste through an app
that let´s users «save» left over food from restaurants, cafes,
and other food grossists in their local areas.
The 2019 Oslo Innovation Award winner has demonstrated
strong businessworthy qualities, impacting society in a good
way and showing that it’s possible to create fast growing
business solutions while contributing to the Sustainable
Development Goals.
Connecting Oslo culture
at the opening party
The Oslo Innovation Week featured a selection of the best
culture Oslo has to offer. The goal was to give attendees and
international press an Oslo art experience right at their
fingertips. The event was hosted in the basement at Youngs.
The lineup included artists LÖV and Nils Bech, and DJs Carl
Louis and Vibeke Bruff. Attendees could also make their own
3d paintings using Google´s VR product – the Tilt Brush.
The opening party was supported by Osloregionen.
OIW HQ and Afterwork
In order to facilitate for more networking and a place to meet people
from other events, especially for international attendees, we created a
social hub at Youngs.
Attendees were free to attend afterwork at Youngs every evening
during the week. The events varied every day; a conversation on how to
get funding from investors by nFront and Inventure, a live podcast of
PowerLadies, and a a film screening and conversation by the Human
Aspect, a special F*ck Up with a focus on sustainability failures. There
was also DJs and dancing to round off every night.

Scaleup Workshop
One way of supporting scaleups is to facilitate
knowledge transfer and learn from the people that have
done it before. Oslo Business Region, together with BI
Norwegian Business School and 360leaders, we
facilitated a workshop on scaling - this being the third
edition.
Prediktor shared the ups and downs of raising capital,
SafetyWing shared their experience with running remote
organisations, Induct Software discussed their business
model and Halodi Robotics shared insights into their
hiring process.
The OIW Scaleup Workshop format works like this: 15
minute case presentation from company, followed by a
15 minute expert panel discussion, closing with a 15
minute plenary discussion.

  • 19. Together with our partners, Oslo Innovation Week has reached and breached many goals during the last 15 years. The Oslo Innovation Week family has gotten bigger and stronger. Now including a broader mix of event organizers like tech companies, corporates, incubators, organizations and the public sector. The number of international attendees have increased from 19% in 2015 to 31% in 2019. We’ve maintained our ambition of having 50% female speakers on stage. We have introduced new concepts such as Powercouples. We have positioned Oslo Innovation Week amongst the big, global players like Web Summit and Slush - hitting Forbes list of events you must go to in 2018. All these success stories is the result of pioneering event organizers, owners and attendees who have joined year after year, tested new concepts (oh and some have failed too), and contributed. The way forward The competition between events, cities and nations is fierce. Oslo Innovation Week is doing well - so it’s time to shake things up! To be a frontrunner and deliever value to our stakeholders, we must always strive to be better. In coming weeks, Oslo Business Region will work on the strategy and the new way forward for Oslo Innovation Week. You’ll be invited too. Maybe we’ll end up right were we’re at now, or maybe we’ll discover new possibilities, partners and connections. We don’t know yet! What we do know is that we’ll continue to support our attendees, event organizers, owners and future stakeholders. In the meanwhile, save the date for Oslo Innovation Week 2020, 21-25 September.

  • 39. Key numbers press and social media 206 Millions in digital reach Scale of 1-5, where 5 is best. Articles published so far183 Measured 1 Jun - 29 Oct, 2018 & 2019. Digital media reach is social media reach combined with the reach of digital press articles. There was a 71% decrease in digital reach from 2018, and a 75% in articles published. The decrease in both articles published and digital media reach is not due to lack of priority or quality of work. In 2018, we had a large increase in exposure due to former President, Barack Obama, visiting Oslo Business Forum as a speaker. Thus, it would be unrealistic for us to reach the same numbers in 2019. However, both articles published and the digital media reach is almost doubled when compared to 2017. 728 516

The video content generated more value and attention accross social media channels. Video marketing 30000+ Views on own native channels - not including the views amassed from others sharing the content.
  • 43. Visual elements across Oslo Based on the visual brand profile, Metric Design created new banners to hang on Oslo´s main street - Karl Johan, posters to display accross venues, badges, and t-shirts for crew and volunteers. They also created vinyl for windows and visual signs and elements that we displayed at Youngs to make it visible as our head quarters throughout the week.
