12. Plant Lighting Retrofit 2. Plant Lighting Retrofit: Replace existing Metal Halide fixtures with T8 Light w/ Electronic Ballasts light retrofit. Add motion sensors in lower traffic areas. Resulted in significant reduction of 470,598 KWH/year or 1,694 GJ/year. /4 Energy Savings: Lights off when area not in use. 13. 3. Peak Load Reduction: Reduce wasted energy in lighting with documented shut-off and start-up procedures. Reduced wasted energy in large press shop motors with documented shut-off and start-up procedures. 4. KWH Reduction: Timers were added to outside parking area lighting to be available as required for employee safety, but to shut off when no longer required. /5 BNC Energy Savings Projects - Electricity
14. Project #1: Wash Temperature Reduction Worked with chemical suppliers to specify the correct low temperature chemical for our process while maintaining required 99.7% first pass quality rate. Goal: Reduced operating temperature from 140°F to 110°F Actual: Achieved 70°F. Bath warmed by heat of parts from our spotwelding process! This reduced energy usage in the process by 75-80%. /6 BNC Energy Savings- Natural Gas
15. /7 Project #2: Compressor & Chiller Heat Recovery Modified venting from compressor room, and chiller equipment to allow outside venting of warm air in summer, and inside venting to plant in heating season. 12,944 m3 of natural gas were saved per year. BNC Energy Savings- Natural Gas
17. Summary of Results Net Savings (2010 vs. 2006): Natural Gas consumption reduced by 54.8% Electricity consumption reduced by 36.4% Water consumption reduced by 85.4% /9
