2. Pre-injury Status
Before her injury, this patient was a retired
67-year-old school teacher. She lived alone
with three cats and volunteered four days a
week in a local library.
She had a number of children and
grandchildren who came by regularly.
She was also an avid bridge player and
played every Tuesday and Sunday.
Although she had an old car, she
preferred to walk or take the bus.
She suffered from Diabetes Mellitus and
Hypertension, but these conditions were
well controlled with medication.
3. Present Condition
After her injury, this patient is living alone
at her home. She takes care of her two
cats (one died since the injury) and has
resumed her volunteer work at the library
for two days a week.
She says that her children and
grandchildren visit her a lot, it looks like
more than before the accident, and must
admit it tires her more easily than before.
She has stopped playing bridge as she
feels her head is not in it at this time.
4. Present Condition
Apart from an occasional headache there
are some spells of dizziness that occur
once a week or less.
She has not driven her car since the
accident but can take care of herself and
goes out alone to shop either on foot or
with the bus.
