The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. is pleased to invite you to its
four-day annual international library benchmarking in Bangkok, Thailand, dubbed as
“Collaborative Benchmarking Plus 1: The Amazing Bangkok, Thailand Experience” to be held on
15-18 October 2013.
The target outcome of the benchmarking activity is to increase the performance of participating
libraries and information centers by adopting the best practices of selected libraries in Bangkok,
Thailand. The tour specifically aims to (1) identify best practices of selected libraries in Bangkok,
Thailand in terms of services and programs, resources, processes, staff development, and
learning spaces; (2) learn new trends and transformation in a hybrid library environment; and, (3)
foster professional and cultural exchange between Filipino and Thai librarians.
In addition to the benchmarking, participants will have a chance to attend and participate in an
International Forum on Trends and Transformation 2013: Managing Collections in an Electronic
Environment to be held at the Chulalongkorn University Library on 16 October 2013, 2:00-
7:00PM. The forum will focus on the value ebooks and online journals in academic research work
and promotion/marketing of online resources. Attached herewith are the following: (1) Itinerary
of Library Visits, (2) Official Registration Form; and, (3) Travel Package.
Please make reservations as early as possible. Only limited slots are available. Full payment is
due on or before 16 September 2013 through Ms. Ma. Cecilia D. Lobo of UST at 731-3034. Check

Note:
For participants with Philippine travel tax exemption: Twenty four thousand five hundred sixteen pesos

Registration is on a “FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS”. Benchmarking tour is limited to fifty (50) participants only.
PAARL ONLY ACCEPTS APPLICATION WITH FULL PAYMENT.
RESERVATION FEE includes Registration Fee of PhP1,000.00 (non-refundable) and 50% (PhP13,068.00) of the total
travel package.
Full payment is due on or before 16 September 2013.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
P750.00 boarding fee and daily meals (i.e. lunch and dinner) are not included in the registration fee except for breakfasts.
Expenses going to other tourist destinations in Thailand other than those indicated in the itinerary shall be shouldered by the
participants including transportation. Travel package rates are subject to change without prior notice depending on the
number of participants.
