4. Networking is a Job Just because you have promoted yourself or your company on one of more web sites or job boards, you can’t just sit back and just wait for the phone to ring or wait for someone to eventually contact you. You have to “make it a job” each day in dedicating time and effort to actively connect and network with people and businesses in “promoting” yourself and your business. While there are several means of doing this, the most effective ones are either “live” face-to-face or phone-to-phone networking encounters. It’s those verbal or in-person “one-to-ones” or “one-to-many” interfaces that allow you to actively and verbally pitch your “elevator speech” which is more effective in advancing your career.
