About the Organisation ‘Public Welfare & Development Society’ is a small Voluntary
organization working for the most disadvantaged sections of society
in Erode district of Tamilnadu since 1986. The main objective of
the organization is to give voice of the most neglected, deprived
and exploited social groups and provide support voluntary efforts
for their Health, Education, Social and Economic empowerment
mainly, mainly to women. Its approach is to work directly with
people at grass root level and encourage them to take active part in
programs and activities. PWDS is a Self Help Promotion Institution
(SHPI) believes in strengthening community efforts in identifying
and solving their problems.
The Founder K A Natarajan had leprosy and was a beggar for some
days in his adolescent age and knows the difficulties of the poor
and started this organization to help poor in any way possible.
DONATION PRODUCT DETAILS
Product Name General Fund
Description General fund is created and maintained by our NGO to cover general
expenses not specific to a project/cause/need. This helps cover expenses
vital to the running of the organisation. Expenses such as administrative
expenses various overheads are paid from the general funds. Most NGOs
maintain a general fund to help them meet the donation gap created when
donors donate only to a specific project/cause/need or any unexpected
expense which may arises during the course of running organisation.

Product Name Corpus Fund
Description Corpus fund is considered to be the capital of the organisation. The fund is
generated and kept by us for the sustenance and existence of the
organisation. The Corpus Fund is of paramount importance to the
organisation as it helps during the times of distress. Only the
interest/divided earned from it is accumulated or utilized for general
purposes. It is required for the smooth sustenance of the organisation. We
are currently trying to build a corpus fund of 12 months of expenditure of
the organisation thereby ensuring a smooth sustenance. It will help reduce
financial vulnerability and thereby help us achieve our goals.

Product Name Sponsor food/medical expenses of a tribal child for 3 months to improve nutrition.
Description Tribal have to leave their infants in the care of their elder school going
siblings as the parents need to go to work. Due to this, children of school
going age are often unable to go to school. In addition, the parent’s income
is not sufficient to meet the nutrition requirements of the family members
particularly the children who need a balanced diet.
The above situation creates malnutrition and lack of psychological
development amongst children of 2 to 5 years of age in this indigenous
community. By and large, to tackle the above problems there is a need for
community based Care Centers to product tribal children from malnutrition
related delay in growth. The supply of nutrition, activity based learning;
language development will erase fear of school thus ensuring overall early
childhood development and help produce healthy tribal children.
Based on the above project needs, the organization intends to work for the
development of tribal children. There is need to establish 20 centers with
facilities for 20 children in the age group of 2-5 years in the villages of the
intervention areas.

Product Name Provide nutritional mix/medicines for a tribal girl to help improve health
Description About 80% of the adolescent girls, pregnant mothers and women are
under anemic status due to malnutrition and improper diet pattern among
tribal communities. The anemia prevalence is higher than male in all
section of the society particularly in the tribal community. Female are
more prone to malnutrition and anemia. Due to anaemia and malnutrition
deficiency adolescent girls get physical weak, low stamina, less
concentrate on their studies, irregular menstruation and other physical
complications. Pregnant mothers face pregnancy complication like long
labour, constipation, swelling, low birth weight and so on. Because of
malnutrition the community’s productivity is affected.
Therefore there is need to rectify the anemic status among vulnerable
groups like adolescent girls, pregnant mothers and anemic women among
tribal community. The following strategies and activities are proposed to
increase the nutritional status among the selected groups.
1. Supply of Nutritional mix like your nutritional products.
2.Supply of IFA Tablets
3.Dew arming process
4. Health education and food demonstrations.

Product Name Support a tribal family by donating towards a pair of sheep thereby creating
a source of sustainable livelihood.
Description The intervention areas are in the remote forest. There is no fertility for
agriculture development because of soil erosion. In the beginning, tribal
used to collect firewood and sell them in nearby villages as their main
source of income. However now most people in the use LPG gas. This
stopped their main source of income. There is need for permanent income or
economic solution to meet their basic needs for a sustainable livelihood.
Tribal belong to the forest and it has been their main source of livelihood.
Sheep rearing is one of the best ways to earn more money without any huge
investments. Our organisation intends to support by giving 2 calves of sheep
of 3 months old to rear in each family. When the sheep matures in a year, it
can used for reproduction of other one is to sell for meat after reproduction.
This activity ensures permanent economic solution for their livelihood.

Product Name Loan Fund for self help groups promotion
Description The neglect of women’s economic role resulted in exploitation of women
workers; un equal wages between men and women, higher un-employment
due to loss of jobs in traditional sectors like petty shop, vegetable/fruit
vendors, tailoring, weaving, textiles, Tiffin stalls, ornament, manufacturing
and household industries. In this context, the Role of PWDS-NGO in
poverty alleviation, employment generation, empowerment of women and
human development are indispensable. We also help the women for
improvement in quality life, improvement in economic status, improvement
in decision making, improvement in leadership quality, improvement in
social participation, improvement in respect and recognition in the families.
Target for the project is 1000 Self Help Groups per annum
individually promotion about 12000 female headed families.
Roles and Responsibilities: EXAMPLE: Funding Partner release
funds for 20 Groups @ 5 Lakhs (Totally Rs. 1 Crore) with Mutual
Agreement. That the funds to be in 2 components. First and main funding
for Loan 75% utilized to Self Help Groups to improvement of economic
status. This fund will be refunded to the funding partner in time. The second
and remaining 25% will be utilized as subsidy for SHGs 5% and
administrative expenses.

Product Name Financial empowerment for rural population thro’ establishment of mini-
departmental stores in 100 hamlets in the banner of funder’s name.
Description After an orientation of 100 SHG/JLGs leaders who in charge of each and
every mini store unit set up, procure agency for goods & materials,
transportation facilities contracts arrangements and its operations will be
started after project sanction. The activities in full forces will be finished
within 6 months.
-To establish 100 mini-departmental stores in Tribal/Rural/Urban slum areas
of entire district to support down trodden to uplift and financial empower
and permanent income opportunities assured for SHG/JLGs.
–To get nutrient materials for kitchen and grocery requirements to avail for
people under BPL at a nominal MRP and they should get quality products
will be assured for rural, tribal and slum poor people.
–To employment opportunities for both educated and uneducated youths
will be assured and practical education given in financial administration.
–To small returns will be utilized year and year for new JLGs.
–To avail agency opportunity from Corporate Companies/Producers.
–To profits by distributions to be used for administrative & office staff.
–To direct employment benefit for 410 persons.

Due to anaemia and malnutrition deficiency adolescent girls get physical weak, low stamina, less concentrate on their studies, irregular menstruation and other physical complications. Pregnant mothers face pregnancy complication like long labour, constipation, swelling, low birth weight and so on. Because of malnutrition the community’s productivity is affected. Therefore there is need to rectify the anemic status among vulnerable groups like adolescent girls, pregnant mothers and anemic women among tribal community. The following strategies and activities are proposed to increase the nutritional status among the selected groups. 1. However now most people in the use LPG gas. This stopped their main source of income. There is need for permanent income or economic solution to meet their basic needs for a sustainable livelihood. Tribal belong to the forest and it has been their main source of livelihood. Sheep rearing is one of the best ways to earn more money without any huge investments. Our organisation intends to support by giving 2 calves of sheep of 3 months old to rear in each family. When the sheep matures in a year, it can used for reproduction of other one is to sell for meat after reproduction. This activity ensures permanent economic solution for their livelihood.
