3. Why is 12th January Known as National Youth Day ?
National Youth Day is observed in India since 1985
to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami
Vivekananda
“See for the highest, aim at that highest, and
you shall reach the highest.”

4. Swami Vivekananda
(1863-1902)
Swami Vivekananda, born Narendranath Datta, was an
Indian Hindu monk and philosopher. He was the chief
disciple of the 19th-century Indian mystic Ramakrishna
Paramhans and introduced Hinduism and Spirituality to
theWestern World.

5. Role Model of the Youth
What makes Swami Vivekananda the ideal role model
for the youth is the fact that he motivated theyouth to be
stronginbody, mind andspirit

13. Narendra Nath’s association with Sri Ramakrishna
 Narendranath first met Sri Ramakrishna at the home of a devotee
in Calcutta. He did not initially accept Ramakrishna’s ideas but was
attracted by his personality and began to frequently visit him at
Dakshineswar.
 After Narendra's father's sudden death in 1884, the family had to go
through a lot of financial struggle. Narendra began to question the
existence of God. It was then he found solace in the words of
Ramakrishna. Gradually he accepted Ramakrishna as his spiritual
guru.

14.  Sri Ramakrishna taught that service to humanity
was the most effective form of worship of God.
During his last days, Sri Ramakrishna chose
Narendrato bethe leaderof his youngdisciples.
